we weigh the blades first to get them somewhere close, then static balance them on a jig, pretty much as the RAF did them in days gone by.You've probably already answered this but how do you go about balancing the prop after cutting it?
How much avgas does the engine get through at a show?
I'd love to see it. Years ago when I found the Sea Prince in the Hull scrapyard I harboured ideas of buying the Leonides engines and restoring them. Sadly at the time I had no money and no premises!
I was an a/c tech in the RAF then and I now wish I'd got Cosford Museum involved.
theyre quite a lot less thirsty than my bosses merlin, itll do about a gallon or so for a 10 minute run, so not too bad.
if you have a yearning for one, i know where theres a pair of complete pembroke power units that should be in reasonable nick, and they wont be expensive
