It's an Amolco bench-top machine - designed to be fitted to a Myford lathe in place of the tailstock. I wouldn't fancy lifting it into place, it weighs a fair bit

There were posts about it at the time. Here it is after I tidied it up and fitted a NVR switch

must be the only one like that. Doesn’t affect it’s use and happy with it for the price.
Application of a BFH seems effective in many situations, but I suspect this isn't one of them. 
So I did. I like your thinking, I'll see if I can make it work. The vice is well down the list atm though
.
