The following was what I wanted the contents of the 2 box's.

This is a gold find.





Mamod Stationary Steam engine.
Needs a lot of work.
Main steam pipe is badly soldered, saddle for axil loose.
But it is complete.



5 small line shaft driven workshop tools, I doubled up on the small grinders.

Just need to locate a line shaft.

Capto? Think I might have an adaptor kicking about if I didn’t give it away already...

Certainly interested if you have it and it is suitable.
They are C4 but sadly it seems you can not get a VDI30 to C4 adapter, should have made a bleeding VDI40 turret instead of making a 30

One I have/had is Vdi40. Same problem you have then. I sacked off the idea and got rid of the capto tooling I had...

That's a shame. Not really sure why they don't do a VDI30 C4 adapter, not that I would be paying Sandvik prices for one even if they did

the "tuning fork" is for bending.
the top left is a hot chisel.
the ones on the right (top 2, bottom 2) are for making specific shapes- possibly should have a matching top tool.

the two flat blocks are for working inside corners.
the centre tool looks like a tinman's stake for working internal seams etc.

the bottom left triangular tool? not sure

Bottom left looks like a hot hardie, for cutting hot steel. Can also be used for marking the centre of a piece of bar by balance before working it. We used to mark the centre of horseshoes like that.

The stationary engine is Mamod Minor 2
With the newly introduced Mazak flywheel
Circa 1950.

it leaks like a sieve.
Both end caps.
From the rivets holding the saddle bracket.
Fro the steam pipes.

Clean up. repair and rebuild.


The workshop tools date from 1950's, at the earliest up to 1957 at the latest.

I had a similar Mamod as a birthday present, but it would have been in the late 70's (yes they would give under-10's 'dangerous' toys back then, and we loved them even the burns and blisters). Didn't get any lineshaft stuff with it though, you jammy git!

1950's Meccano set would provide the line shaft and pulleys, I am sure a man of TYA's calibre could do the rest.

This turned up today, A sykes pickavant hydraulic piston for my pullers as the old one went walk abouts and a fold out leg from a caravan table to make a pop up tables for my mates van.

In the damp news paper in one box was a surprize.
As I was about to recycle the paper it felt heavy.




A taper shaft and a chuck.

It looked like it would fit the pillar drill I have stalled on, due to a lack of chuck.


Missing a spring, but I will rob one from the grave yard.

Great drills. I have three union hand crank drills. Just in the middle of refurbishing one of them.

When I got it, it had the wrong chuck fitted.

Fascinating, I had a little lathe made by Keen but the decal was destroyed. What does it say exactly? Can’t quite read it.

The decal was badly damaged and was impossible to read or duplicate.
