Last of the small parts are now done finally. One part that's bugging me is the flat bar. I can't for the life of me think where it goes. I think it's a carriage part. For some reason I have no photo of this part.

That part comes in many shapes, sizes and materials, its normal location is on or under the bench, after rebuilding any mechanical contrivance.

Consider yourself fortunate to have found it before final assembly, not many of us are so lucky!

Sure you will find an obvious spot for it on reassembling.

Just been going through my photos. I have found the place where it sits as I can tell by the rust pattern it had before I cleaned it. But can't understand why it's there. It sits under the carriage on that centre part .

The flat bar rides on an underside way and prevents the saddle from lifting.

I as a rule photograph every single part but some reason didn't on that part.

Got the thread dial indicator on. And the steady is almost complete. Just in the process of making a new clamp plate for the steady.

Wow. This is impressive. Probably one of the, if not the, most ambitious, extensive and well shared/documented restorations I have seen online. Most simply clean and perhaps slap some new paint on-top of old, and call it restored. You Sir are the real deal.

I didn't think it be to long before you added ya pence worth

Today I set about the task of making the steady clamp. It came with a flat bit of plate and is no good. I used an old of cut of 20x50mm mild steel. I could of took it to my friend and used his Bridgeport but decided to do it by hand. It's nearly there.

Drilled and tap 1/2 bsw. All done. A lick

of paint next.
