Today I acquired...........

Not arrived yet, but just bought an SGS 100 litre air compressor, to replace the ancient 24 litre one I’ve been using.
Should make a wee difference to things.

Compressor arrived today.

Gosh......it’s big.

Fired it up to get the oil moving, but haven't used it in anger, yet. After 10 minutes of running without load, the oil looked quite emulsified, and grey in colour. I assume this is why you change it after 10 running hours, but would it benefit from being changed earlier than that?

the boss actually did pass comment that we dont need to build a test stand for the time being as we can fire it up on the pallet coz its sturdy enough

Bought this on EBay yesterday.
Funny thing was I didn’t look at the location, could of been anywhere in the country. Turns out the chap lives 5 mins from me and I picked it up this afternoon.

this is one of the easier engines to be shoehorned into a landy the 18 litre merlin-derived v8 is proving more complicated

he asks if he could pop over as car coolant needs topping up.
i said sure, see you soon.

he arrives and while i wait for car to cool a little.
he goes to the boot and says ohh yer.
been having a tidy up in my flat.
do you want these ??
or they will go down the tip..

they wouldn't reach the container down at the tip.
the staff would have them..

his dad is an electrician in a London hospital.
got them for him, i guess hoping he would follow in his footsteps.

but it isn't for him by the looks of it...

A new lathe!
Chance conversation and my tiny Sherline lathe has now been replaced.
I think its a 1908 Drummond.
The Sherline has been a fantastic machine but its just too small for the stuff I need to make, I can feel my back hurting at the thought of moving it!View attachment 153358

A neighbour who is moving gave me a Clarke chain saw that looked unused i put gave it a quick check over and put some chain oil in and it cut very nicely
