Only bought it as my current one is too small to make the pins for my Pro Link suspension.
Do you recon I could get it to work on the treadle again?
Has any one any of them belting you can just alter to size?

Yesterday I acquired a strong crossbow limb/ prod/ crossbow bow.

I have extended the crossbow, a little bit of putty/ a little bit of paint/will make the chippy what 'e aint.

Some ornate metal sides to strengthen and maybe safety goggs on, 'probably explode in a mash of wood and metal.

A new lathe!
Chance conversation and my tiny Sherline lathe has now been replaced.
I think its a 1908 Drummond.
The Sherline has been a fantastic machine but its just too small for the stuff I need to make, I can feel my back hurting at the thought of moving it!View attachment 153358

That's the same as my very first lathe although yours is in a lot better condition.
I did a ton of work with it and only got rid as I got fed up with swapping change wheels for thread cutting.

The strange thing is the bloke I bought it from lives near me it was just a chance conversation, I have known him for over 25 years just to say hello to when out with the dog but never knew he had a small work shop.
Wait until you see the drill, it would have been rude to leave it behind.

I have a weakness for Drummonds. Just info I've picked up over the years. Tony's lathes site gives plenty of good info on most lathes, and there's the Yahoo Drummond lathe users list as well. The earliest version of that model had a slightly different design of headstock. They then beefed up the headstock design a bit, but dropped that little shelf under the dog clutch arm within a couple of years or so later, so the minor variations tend to give an indication of age. I'm guessing you likely can't see a serial number on that lathe?

That lathe used round belt originally, hence the narrow pulley grooves. You can still readily buy it in multiples of metre lengths, either leather or a modern alternative material. Can't recall what diameter offhand, but it'll be somewhere around 1/4" belting or just above for that. If using leather belt, I just use a link from a small brass chain as the joining clip, rather than using the stiffer piano type wire clips normally used. Just pierce or drill through both ends of the belt, then feed the clip through and close the gap on the link. The modern material belts tend to be glued or melted to join.

Acquired for my kids 5th birthday. Woke up 6am this morning and brought them in from the workshop were I had assembled them in secret so they saw them waiting in the kitchen when they woke up. Man they're bigger than I thought, our house is too small.

Not arrived yet, but just bought an SGS 100 litre air compressor, to replace the ancient 24 litre one I’ve been using.
Should make a wee difference to things.

Picked up a .6kg pack of 2.5mm esab ok 76.18 today at a car bootsale. I thought they were 7018s till I got them home but they're 8018-b2, anyone familiar with these?

Picked up a nice little ball pein hammer too, little bit rusty but new. Also got some surface prep belts, a box of 3m dust masks, 2 pairs of 3m glasses and 2 bottles of hydraulic pipe sealer.

The last thing was this little barrel with a screw on lid for holding oil dry, according to the label it used to have tablets for repackaging in it.

8018 should weld like 7018 just have 10kpsi tensile strength more (first 2 digits are tensile strength, third is type and fourth I can't remember!)

Yeah battery driven cars, pretty impressed with them so far, even got stereo with audio and USB jacks, my car doesn't have that. And yeah they're identical twins, a handful indeed when you got twins, but also much more fun.
