Tooling is always handy to have and yes an ER collet holder is almost a necessity.A quick look on eBay before I end up asleep finds an int50 to ER40 collet adaptor.
Would this be a great way to use regular end mills/slot drills? As a bonus I already have a full set of ER40 collets for the lathe, so seems like it would be an excellent idea?
bill calls near here so can pick them up i believe
and yes there an interest to you bill just that i picked the wrong name to tag as long as your will suit those
also bill knows i can store them here if he needs to do so untill he gets down here
austin knows im good for it as well already met him
yes thats fine by me i have noticed that there is a collet chuck on one of the arbours and i think its er 42 but i am not shure i will put on my add that they are provisionaly sold .KevinWill reply to all properly when I get home.
That would be brilliant, and I’ll see that your time is covered.
@Austin , would it be ok to say that I’ll have them once I can check the machine is indeed the int50 spindle? Hopefully I will have the machine transported pretty soon. Let me know what works for you.
That looks a big stout machine but my concern would be spindle to table distance.
One you have a decent vice on there and a tooling in the spindle there won't be a whole lot of room left, even less if you had a drill chuck in it.
I've a similar problem with my Elliot. There isnt enough drop on the knee for me to use a normal drill chuck and a half inch drill to drill something in the vice. I need to swap to the collet chuck.
In terms of moving, is there not provision for a lifting eye on the top?
That's magnificent for a home machine.
Its similar to a Victoria U2 I had, no quill but powered everything else. Slow to use for some jobs without the quill but extremely sturdy and will do anything that a less rigid machine wont. I'm sure you will find the same. I don't think you will ever wear that out.
Does look like you've scored a spectacular result there, glad to hear it's only a lamp gone walkies. Nice to see it comes with an indexer too.
If it wasn't for the fact I'd have nowhere to put it, I'd be extremely jealous, as it is I am merely slightly jealous.
Whatever you do with it though, don't drop it on your toe.
closest 1 i can find is this one

Bill, gave it a quick wire brush, one side is pitted, the other seems fine. Shouldn't really be an issue as it will be low spots rather than high so should still snug in the taper.
Cutter is 6 inch dia.
If you want it let me know and I will see how much delivery is, it is bleedin' heavy.

Ok will get it weighed up if/when I rememberYes please!
Btw, the welder arrived safely and I'm very happy with it. I only managed time to burn one rod but it had a really nice smooth arc which I thought was very good, I look forward to using it properly.

Yes it is a beautiful arc on that welder, I would say even better than the GYS I have now if I am honest, especially good for positional welds.
OK. I can't take it any more in a thread "what should I pay for a mill"
What did you pay for it?
