Didn’t work for me
New top end rebuild kit and new super precision spindle bearings rebuild kit is approx £500
Decided I’m going to run this one from a drivers direct 240v single to proper 415v 3 phase inverter which is approx £500
So that puts the machine at £1300 but with a fully rebuilt head and spindle so not all bad as I’d probably do that on any machine I bought
I'll likely get shot down on this, but hey-ho
You really don't need super precision bearings, just good quality normal ones will be absolutely fine.
If you want to run 10,000+ rpm spindle speeds and do that in a production environment there may be a case for them...

.
Bridgeports are not very rigid machines but for the spindle bearings I would still be getting a matched pair of Angular contacts, for the rest then just normal bearings of a decent brand.
"Not very rigid" compared to what?
as per this."Not very rigid" compared to what?
Pretty much any other milling machine of similar size.
Not knocking them, I have one but.......
Whats a ram??Has more rigidity in one of the levers than a Bridgeport has
Obviously not as versatile with having a solid ram but in reality the ram is not moved very often in most places.
