It's even worse when my son works for jewsons. (To be fair he is tool hire supervisor and does not have a background in building ( other than what I have taught him... ( poor kid)mate ime sitting here wishing you were closer...very frustrating when you can see a fish out the water,ide love to give you a weekend on stuff thats just run of the mill in my world...iff you would like a chat over stuff your doing then PM me your number and let me know when i could call you..sometimes even not knowing the proper name for stuff you need can multiply the hardship ten fold.
In general I go for belt and braces approach even if it cost me more. I was worried about needing pillars but was going to add some structural steel while I was adding concrete floor and steel benches.

Problem is my short term memory is shot and I could speak to you tonight and remember nothing about it till 2 weeks time.

Biggest issue is I an sure 90 degree wall plate fastenings and those twisted joist straps would be fine. BUT I can't move on when I have something in my head I want...lol
