Too much ‘stuff’ on the top of it, some sort of sheet metal cover, plus a bunch of regulators, gauges, filler pipe. Knowing my luck I’d drop a board edgeways on and snap a gas pipe, emptying the lot into my garden.....

I'm sure i positioned the step ladder against the wall, board on to edge of roof, walk forward, lift to waist level, one step up and push, mines about the same height

When I did my shed, I was a Nobby No-Mates like you faced with the same problem. Luckily I had an 8x4 bench already standing on the concrete slab, so I’d lean the OSB sheet on the bench, then climb up and lift it onto the bench, then heave it up onto the rafters.

Really heavy work on your own, but luckily it only needs doing once.

Wind has stopped play with the roof for today, so I've been busy adding noggins to the joists, plus the walls, then cut some more OSB to start filling all the holes.

Starting to look like a workshop now. I've started planning where benches and stuff are going to go already.

12 x 16 slab size. It should suffice for me to tinker in and while away the autumn of my years.......

Been thinking about lighting and sockets today actually. Does wire have to be run in some sort of conduit, or is it okay just clipped to the back of the OSB?

Thanks. I was trying to work out how to do an overhang down the sides too, but then decided not to bother. The door and window are at the front, so the overhang will keep weather off them a bit.

stick in more sockets than you think you need, plenty around the bench. As well as general lighting, think about task lighting over your work bench

Yeah true about the sockets and lights. I got 20 double socket and 3led strip lights in main area and four down lights in a separate area my boy uses.

mine is clipped and was installed by my eldest lad......who is the area senior electrical engineer for Northern Powergen.....H&S before anything

run in trunking and just run down the walls where needed

i use 15mm and 22mm pipe clips there great for threading wire threw them fast and easy

clip it to the back or anywhere u can get it as long as its protected by an rcd no covering needed

Add a line of sockets in the ceiling down the centre line. Avoids the need for extension leads and keeps the lead of the power tool away from the workpiece and floor.

This is not a criticism as I think you are doing a terrific job here but the window and door frame could use a couple of jacks and a header. I have no idea what the terminology is here in the UK because I only ever did timber frame in the US. Here is a pic below of what I mean and there is a good video too. I know a little bit about timber frame, the Americans and Canadians do it very well, we are no good at it here in the UK.



I always ran my Jacks full length though, not as trimmers.

Here is a youtube video of a guy giving a good explanation of the various components of a Timber Frame. We don't do corners very well here in the UK either.

Interesting video, thanks. I’d guess they need that sort of reinforcement with that huge looking roof they are using.

Mine is just a simple flat roof, and I’m not expecting much by way of snow.

All the wood he puts in seems a little overkill really, as the window is not that wide, and he is only making up for single King stud being left out.

I shall run a few more tight fitting jack studs twixt window and door, as there is only two king studs holding up four rafters. I can’t do them inside the window frame as it is already a close fit on my UPVC frame.

I doubled up the other side of the door as the hinges will fasten there and it will be quite a heavy door.

That nail gun would certainly speed things up, but the slow and steady screw method I use better suits my continual error making.
