those maxi scooters are a serious bit of kit these days , not to be taken lightly.The only people you see using scooters round here are for Deliveroo/fast food stuff.

Few years back a mate had a Honda Silverwing (the super-scoot, not the maggot derivative tourer) as a courtesy bike while his Fazer thou was in the shop.those maxi scooters are a serious bit of kit these days , not to be taken lightly.
How unlucky I sold said wheel thatwas a miss purchased that stood unused for several years, with a bunch of other stuff about 3 weeks ago. But cant see the CRF been the most economical commuter at all.tw lads at work are on about getting there tests to lower the fuel costs
Iv stopped using the V8 as a daily and have a cheap banger to use in the mean time
Once I have a cbr600f front wheel I will be using my new CRF450R as a supermoto commuter

If only the weather was better ,, In Barcelona scooters make sense ,, In Belfast its not quite as obvious .Maybe that's where the noticeable change will come, more scooters?
When you think about it they're designed to be exactly the answer to cheap commuting with the ability to carry enough gear for most commutes. Two up isn't an issue, quick enough away to make it fun, cheap to tax and insure, very economical, easy to ride, not as off putting as a sports bike for someone who's not into bikes, and not as 'old fashioned' as a UJM style commuter.
I guess like anything else, all it needs is for some celebrity or popular non-entity to be seen using one and they'll be everywhere.![]()

Some parts of the journey are thru 20mph speed limit zones.

When I first hit the Philippines 30 years ago (damn, is it really that long go) I was curious why the streets weren't awash with little Honda scooters, like most other asian countries. Then I discovered they have 100% import duties on cars and bikes, which made it cheaper for a family to buy one of the locally manufactured 'owner jeepneys' as they call them. The entry level models were base level junk, built from galvanised sheet and minimal trim, with no side windows, just curtains. The mechanical parts were shipped in from Japan mainly, where cars are scrapped and stripped for parts when only a few years old.I think as living standards continue to equalise around the world (if you know what I mean) you'll see more scooters, motorbikes and cycles over the coming years in the UK.
Motorways are useful for getting out of this over-clogged rubbish-roaded country, onto the continent. I'd dread trawling through 250 miles of crappy A roads just to get to the Eurotunnel from my gaff.A motorbike on the motorway is a grim experience no matter what the tarmac's like. Plus it misses the point of both the bike and the road.
