I was thinking about the gient because its cheap and just something to get into welding withWelcome to the forum:
Not enough info for anyone to help you, other than suggest Clarke is probably a better bet than Giant, however it would benefit you if you gave details of what you want to weld, maximum thickness of any planned work etc.
You may then find neither machine is any good if my guess of what you want it for is correct.
can you give me some tips on how I did the machine was set at 130 amps for these welds and this is my first time welding and I was using a cure of e pattern I have looking at videos from Chucke 2009 and welding tips and tricksWhat do you think of my welds on 3mm angle
I have a budget of about £130Welcome to the forum:

thanks for the help glad to be part of the forumOk so an arc set is fine for your use, was just checking you were not going to attempt car work with it.
Arc sets can be bought for next to nothing, there are often decent second hand one's for sale around the £25 mark.
I noticed Aldi have one in at present too, not sure of it's price but they are usually cheap.
The make is not too important, they are all basically the same heavy lump of a thing, you should however make sure it is fan cooled, usually described as a 'turbo' machine.
They are not nice machines to use, the difference in rods can make a big difference in ease of striking up, but they are very capable of welding projects once you get the hang of them.
sorry, crossed posts, as I said 6013s but get that checked by someone more clued up than me before buying, weldequip will put you right.ok so what rods 6013 or 7018 from weldequip iv been into welding since 15
