I'm stuck as to which one to go for!
I'm just starting off in welding and I'm keen to start on the right foot.
I’m wanting to weld some new panels to my transit this will be the first project I undertake however I do want something that will be able to tackle other types of jobs in the future.

The 2 welders I’m looking at are both on eBay

    1. Hede Nielsen euro boy 3
    2. Migatronic Mig Welder Automig 180 Mono

any advice or help would be greatly appreciated

I didn't want to spend more than £150 if i'm honest as i have never welded before and this is my first attempt.
i'm trying to get lessons locally at the moment.

mig welding is easier than an arc welder its just the initial costs to get started up on it thats a killer

ive been there myself so quick guide

mig welder clarke 151 or better 220.00+ or used machine beware what you buy
then your gas 80.00 volkzone offer
    mig wire reel

you can use gasless but its finding a good reel at the right price us skinflints want to pay for

I quote 151 as you can weld right up to 4mm to 5mm steel and as low as 1mm something id rather have more usage of

dont let me put you off going the mig welding way ive done it myself and i use both arc and mig welder now
ive also got an oil arc welder

If the migatronic works, it's the one I'd have personally. Much more of a machine than a Clarke 151 anyway.

Hey, I've just realised you're the same guy from this thread.

The same applies to you as the other guy I messaged in post #5 - I can always nip into Bath and give it a quick test.

    All the Best,
    CJ

    Hi CJ

that would be amazing shall I try and organise for him to give me his number?
So you can talk directly with him??
He said this morning that it’s in perfect working order however does not have a gas bottle but I would be allowed to bring my own if I wanted too.
I don’t have said bottle so it might be a waste of your time. let me know your thoughts

    regards
    Tony

What he said. Those MiGs are great simple old machines that go forever. I bought mine second hand 26 years ago and still going strong.

    Yeah, I can get there, given a post-code & a time.
And with a gas cylinder, too - I guess!
I'm not the best on the phone, but I could ring him, if you have the number handy.

If you're thinking of coming to his place in Bath at the same time, and going past this way, you can always get an hour's worth of "trigger time" out here in the sticks, if needs be.

    All the Best,
    CJ

Yeah, no worries - but probably makes more sense if or when you pick up the welder.
Otherwise it would seem quite a way to travel, but feel free to weld together a pile of off-cuts, whenever.

    All the Best,
    CJ

    Morning CJ,

After a couple emails to the seller and no response back I guess he is either not happy for a professional to check it over for which leads me think something is not right or he didn’t like me asking what sort of monies he would take for it as he listed it with a place an offer. It’s a shame a i was all set to purchase this one. If anything changes I will let you know.
