It’s plugged into the adjustable port on the compressor.
Are you not using the wall mounted one connected to the end of the compressor tank
It’s plugged into the adjustable port on the compressor.
I cannot connect anything direct to the tank yet because I do not have the correct 1/2 -1/4 reducer to fit my new regulator. The one on the wall currently is toast. I tried to wind it past 60psi and I stripped the threads. I have the airline running from the manifold. I adjusted the manifold pressure so it’s all the way open now. The input pressure to the gun is 110psi. I pull the trigger. It’s at 40. I simulate 3 passes. It soon drops to 35. It carries on dropping. By the time I’ve reached the bottom of the panel it’s just below 30psi and the compressor starts to recharge.
Ok. I’ll do some more primer and prep work on other panels before I attempt the basecoat then. If I can’t get enough pressure through my new regulator then I’ll run an airline connector straight from the tank and use the mini regulator to limit operating pressure. I know someone else on here has struggled with regulator and trying to get enough pressure from it. What is a decent regulator that will allow me to achieve the right setup? I have this as the replacement.I think you need to get your wall mounted regulator sorted before attempting to paint a panel as doesn’t sound like the compressor manifold regulator is helping much
I’m concerned about running 120psi straight to my gun though. Something is going to go pop after a while. I’m sure. Some said their pot shot off and paint went everywhere on a suction feed gun.
Yes. Both those things at gun. Mini regulator and water trap. That’s ok then. As long as 110psi will never go through the actual gun. I’ve no problem with my spraying technique and spraying of primer. it’s just the basecoat.Have you got a gauge and regulator at the gun? Pressure going through that is all you should be worried about. Pressure at the gauge when not spraying is line pressure, pressure when you pull the trigger is pressure going through the gun and what you want set up. I have all my regulators fully open apart from the gun regulator.
All my settings on the guns are fully open. You keep moving when you pull the trigger and 50% overlap each pass. Too low a pressure will give you orange peel and too high lots of overspray. You just need to find that happy medium. Practice actually spraying stuff. Gun should point straight at the panel and move side to side or up and down. Press the trigger before you get to the edge and let go after the edge. Without seeing your setup not really sure what the issue is but seems like you are a bit confused.
I only bought it because I wasn’t sure if the fittings would be the same size as 1/4. They’re probably all the same? The lubricator and water trap together equates to 10psi difference between that and the mini regulator on the gun. 10psi lower at the gun.You definitely don’t need the lubricator
I just re read the post. It’s on another recent post about spray guns. They don’t actually have any issue. Just me. Hopefully once I bypass that manifold I’ll get better flow even with the lubricator.Ok. I’ll do some more primer and prep work on other panels before I attempt the basecoat then. I thought it was all a solid block. I’ll have a look later. Can you not remove the lubricator by taking the clamp in the middle off
You’re right. Now just to wait for the reducer to arrive. Can you not remove the lubricator by taking the clamp in the middle off
I’ll just screw it straight into the tank with no pipe work in between apart from that reducer. Or should I have some pipe in between? Definitely not that red coil hose though as in my other post. That reduces pressure when we try to gun off big items from buses at work. Coil hoses are ok for smaller work.Possibly makes it more difficult to mount to the wall, but one less restriction to worry about at the moment
