Yes modern fuel doesnt help either and boils quickly leaving cavitation and gap locks like air but in theory there isnt any air, in the fuel system, when the pressure drops it boils easier.Its on my 1979 450SL, my car has one cold start injector (controlled electrically by a thermal switch) that adds extra fuel into the intake manifold when the engine is cold, and it starts very fast. However since I first bought it, it cranks for about 3 seconds when hot before starting. This is the time it takes for the fuel pump to build up the pressure requires to open up the CIS injectors (they are activated by pressure, they are totally mechanical injectors, no electronics).
To overcome this issue the fuel accumulator (basically bellows and a spring) holds a quantity of fuel at pressure in the system all the time (well for a while at least) so there is good fuel pressure on the next hot start.

Ok thanks. I have a mk1 Golf GTi so it just got me thinking. There is probably a difference between the parts though so maybe no good for the golf.
After seeing the picture, I would use just a union nut from a believe a straight 10mm pipe connector and then a ball bearing to the seal the end.
