I was offered a job by my aunt in oz in her new husbands agri workshop so maybe it’s the time to go visiting.
Go for it!

Try GE subsidiary Fieldcore, they have an office in Glasgow but work is worldwide.Would like to have my class one. Staying at sea I’m honestly not so fussed on now I could take it or leave it in all honesty.
I’m looking at that there’s a good job going in Glasgow for a field service engineer for a marine and power generation engine supplier.

It is some time since they did mine the guy who runs it, Andrew, is an ex psychological criminal profiler worked for the police! we had a very good session establishing what I was good at and where I wanted to go, you need to prepare this in advance. As with many things the more you put in the more you get out. Good luck!I'm considering a change as well so fired through my CV, got an email and a voicemail a few hours later. "Your current CV requires quite a bit of work"
Well, what else would they say? They want my money
They raised a couple of valid criticisms so I'm half tempted to go for it.
Go now while you are young and single. Living and working there will be a totally different experience, than visiting, while ship is docked. Plus you already know them , not as daunting as turning up in a new place / job not knowing anyone.+1

Best of luck mate.Well hot diggity. Out of sheer interest I was looking at jobs after reading this thread the other day. I decided to chuck a CV in to an interesting job offer, far more exciting sounding than my current role, and now I'm interviewing in person tomorrow.
First time I've seriously looked at jumping ship rather than leaving and going self employed, and the first time I've interviewed anywhere outside of the current organization.
Not that this helps Robbie at all
I would agree, from what Ive heard. But think the waste carriers are now run by another organisation. If @Robbie260 wants to know more I know a man who would know more.James fisher used to be a good company to work for, can’t speak for them now. Their offices overlooked the shipyard in barrow.
As an aside, have you thought about teaching? Loads of jobs going doing that
ThanksBest of luck mate.
Problem with Barrow, is that it's... well... Barrow Million miles from anywhere. I went to tech college there and finished my eng degree there, there were quite a few very clever and motivated people, and the town itself is alright.James fisher used to be a good company to work for, can’t speak for them now. That about sums up my memories of Barrow…..far end of nowhere. Went there many years ago for an interview. Thanks

There's a lot of very good jobs in BAE and they are expanding, so maybe worth a look.
May be of some use? Bit off the wall but Rolls Royce are recruiting for loads of engineers for their new Small Modular Reactors.Well guys and girls today has been a bad day but thankfully they say bad luck only comes in 3 so I’m over half way there now. And only have one more calamity to spring it’s self on me and endure or actually maybe breaking my finger counts so I’m 3 for 3 hurray.
Had the phone call from the office today saying they were starting the redundancy process so looks like my job is coming to the end. Never been in a situation like this before so any advice?
i grew up there, served my time there. wasnt too bad. bit insular and you stab one they all bleed, but theres worse placesThanks
