It was good, they have a great set-up at the college. The lecturers were nice easy going guys. They showed us the workshop areas, talked through some bodywork stuff and then we did some mig welding. Nothing too formal but they had organised cutting up a load of metal so we could just go at it. We were using Lincoln welders and I can say it wasn't anywhere near as nice for welding thin sheet as my Portamig.

Just got my "Vehicle bodywork for beginners" cert, so now a fully qualified beginner bodywork guy.
Next up think it will be a Indian cooking class with my mrs in sept. Maybe sewing and textiles too but getting a bit expensive.
How's others training going?

Not doing anything official but I'm doing a bucket load of embedded software development in the day job which is new, ish, to me... computer scientist by graduation but it hasn't featured much on the work front since then...

I'm booked on a "logical approach to fault finding" course in September, apparently, management want us to fill in a chart demonstrating what steps we will take to rectify a problem instead of just fixing it

Doing the Scraping course in December. Taking a mold to a foundry on Tuesday to have it cast for my project. Can't wait!

Usually these places have trainers that have read a book and never actually used the equipment in its intended fashion

Have any of you heard of the Trade School Co-Operative?
It has been set up in several cities across the world to provide low cost training...... it's actually more of an introduction taster session to some really diverse subjects.
I have been involved with Trade School Norwich for some three years now. Trade School Norwich has turned out to be the most prolific and most diverse of all the current Trade Schools world wide (and I am on target to become the most profuse course leader).
This is part of a "no money changes hands" initiative and I am often paid peanuts by my students .......... really, I ask for large bags of peanuts, Fruit teas, dog treats, etc. the idea is to spread the knowledge for as little cost as possible.
So far I have run courses on Wooden Pallet Dismantling, build a wooden pyramid planter, hands on Bee Keeping experiences, Organic liquids in the garden, an introduction to Cold Smoking food, and making sideways GrowBag boxes. However, it is not all doing it for next to nothing as my Trade School classes have been proliferous catalysts for the commercial courses and experiences that I run, as well as securing some bookings for public speaking engagements.
