I'm mainly doing it for the spray painting tuition, what is being taught is:

• Minor vehicle panel repairs
• Mig welding
• Mig braze welding
• Spot welding
• Preparing panels for primers and topcoats
• Mixing and applying primers and topcoats

The mig brazing might be interesting also. Not been to CCC coach works. The Danish guys who were going to do a course over here have been getting Craig over to Denmark to work on a project so think he's also been teaching them as well so probably won't organise anything for myself at this stage.

Haven't done them yet as I've booked my CSWIP 3.0.
I will do them at some point, a friend of mine recently done his at TWI so he is gonna give me a hand one day prepping and practicing. They've actually put some of his welds on display up there!

Oh cool, you will enjoy the CSWIP course! I did my 3.1 last year and it was very interesting, and pretty hard lol! Are you doing it for any particular reason or just for yourself?

Your wasting your time and money with 3.0 brad.
Start at 3.1 and progress to 3.2 if you want to. 3.0 is aimed more at a basic level for someone who wants to do basic checks from a visual POV in there place of work. That might suit you but I'd say you are more than up to doing a more advanced level of it which covers you for a lot more.

That's a great course to do, getting proper training , much better than learning in the playground

I can't do the 3.1 Richard I haven't got the relevant experience apparently. You need to be a foreman/supervisor for five years or in NDT for three years they've said over the phone. I can hold this 3.0 for two years then do my 3.1

I can't do the 3.1 Richard I haven't got the relevant experience apparently. You need to be a foreman/supervisor for five years or in NDT for three years they've said over the phone. I can hold this 3.0 for two years then do my 3.1

Yes I was a site operations manager for a good 8 years which obviously put me in the bracket.
It's a bloody money making scam because you now have to do 2-3 courses with them to get 3.1/3.2 when you are more than capable of skipping step 1.

I'll do the 3.0 and at the new job I'm sure I'll get to see enough procedures, testing etc to stand me in good stead in two years.
Itll keep me occupied up till July then I'll try and do some more training or codings.
You only have to look at the difference between doing the TWI NDT stuff and the PCN NDT courses and see that they are putting a premium on their stuff

At the minute I just freelance & do contract stuff for a couple of firms, get the odd job in casting repair, heavy equipment and stuff.

New job will be doing some procedure testing, demoing machines all sorts.

I did think about doing that I must admit but not worth them checking it out and turning you away haha

Sound so like your on a pretty good thing there, what kind of procedures will you be doing? I deal with that every day if you need any info, always happy to help!

Not exactly welding related but involves some heavy metal items, fatigue and heavy maintenance.

I've just started a course to revalidate my old flying instructor ratings so that I can teach on the 747 Sim. My first paying customer is in 2 weeks. Anyone want to rent a 747 for an hour??

I've found it hard to get back into 'learning' as a 48 yr old when compared to the early-twenties students coming through. Amazing how the brain slows down with age.
