When grinding alli, I didn't use it in this case, but we use a 40 to 60 abrasive pad and use a 'wax' type hard lub. When the pad gets lightly clogged with alli, you rub it over the hard wax type of lub which melts into the pad. This releases the alli particles stuck to the pad and speeds up the grinding process. The down side if you are not carefull you can contaminate your welding area with wax which makes the welding difficult. It is in the technique of the application of the wax to the pad.
