What I broke today...........

My neighbour was helping me haul my pressure washer up from our shore. where I was using it to clean the dock and wash algae off of the rocky shore to make it less slippery, and his little garden trailer tipped over as he was pulling it behind his ATV along the shoreline trail. The pressure washer fell out, which broke the exhaust pipe. Not a difficult repair...new one is on order...but it was really my fault for not following along to brace the trailer as he went over a slanted spot on the trail.

The pressure washer engine is a Honda GX390.

The exhaust pipe is cast iron, so to me it wasn't worth the bother of welding (beveling, nickel wire, preheating, etc.) when aftermarket replacements are so cheap (about 20 bucks including shipping).

^ Oh, I'll have to look out for one of those. I don't do it very often, though, so it's not a big deal. Does it just screw into the brake pipe hole, then screw down the top bit to push the clip into place over the tapered part?

Red's Eats is about 20-25 minutes from our house, but the queue can be really long. Fortunately, there are other places that have great lobster rolls, and no waiting in line. When we had a house in Alna, ME, I used to drive past Red's almost every day.

I grew up in Glynneath and the mountain/opencast above us was our playground including Sarn Helen

Usually take my Dad along, he now lives in Hirwaun but grew up in Resolven. He's now in his 80s and mum is in poor health so he declined and stayed with her this year

A piece of steel decided to be a banana. I'd slapped this together at the end of last year to lift a tree out of the neighbours drive. Just two small bits of 100x50 box welded to a bigger bit so that I could use the forks to pick up stuff off to the side along with the back actor.

Well today it decided this ash trunk was a bit too big...

A piece of steel decided to be a banana. I'd slapped this together at the end of last year to lift a tree out of the neighbours drive. Just two small bits of 100x50 box welded to a bigger bit so that I could use the forks to pick up stuff off to the side along with the back actor.

Bloody heavy stuff, is wood.
I have a big old Douglas Fir at the corner of my front yard and last winter it shed a couple of smaller lower branches in the gales. Moving them was a bit of a task.

Cutting the hay yesterday with the drum mower and all going well until about halfway, there was a bit of a shake/rumble and an almighty clatter!

Ohh thats a piece broken off the wear plate, its should be about 24 inches in diameter and 3mm thick!
Nothing to loose so carried on cutting and it did the job but something else on the list to fix

so i wasnt the only one that noticed the small leyland garden tractor

exhaust extending i did think was a good idea except for the silver part of the extension as the rest looked high enough to be out of the drivers way

Wings suit a cab that we don't have, the exhaust gets the fumes well away from head height when we used to use it for hay making

so i wasnt the only one that noticed the small leyland garden tractor

Standard exhaust was head height hence the extension

Hah, small world, I know a few people from Glynneath due to rugby and putting a hydro turbine in the water treatment works off Ystradfellte reservoir.

a wasp nest in the roof of the property

though i have found out something with the newer style lift the latts and cross batten them



they love the nests of bees and wasps as they build there nests in that type of roof

just another sting to add to my collection though

Im not sure if this counts as a fix or a broke entry.

I am replacing my house consumer unit today with a metal unit. The metal ones are latest edition and non flammable. But obviously mounting them on a timber board kind of defeats that purpose IMO.



I found a large gap behind the original timber board when cut back. So I rendered it in and need to wait a few more hours before I can start the new board. Itll be packed off the wall for a week or so to allow this to fully dry out.

So no lecky today. Aw well.
