This isn't the bit where it broke
Fab afternoon/evening driving Sarn Helen in South Wales. Halfway through there was a clicking from the suspension as the front panhard rod bracket (track bar for the Americans) had developed a crack. Managed to finish the lane and nurse it nearly home
About 1m from home it started spluttering and cutting out, thinking it might be fuel I freewheeled downhill into a petrol station and chucked some fuel in. Bloody thing wouldn't start.
By now its raining and a farmer friend lived round the corner so he came and towed it back to his yard
Tomorrow's job is to try and find out what's the problem
I had previously suspected the fuel pump may be on its way out, but I can hear it spinning up when I turn the ignition on.

Decades ago on a desert trip in my van, I had the same sputtering and cutting out you described. The fuel filter was the issue. It was clogged to the maximum.

....not today but a few weeks ago 
.........1/2"torque wrench fell off the top of my toolbox in my garage, point load straight onto my middle toe from about 6ft up, which Id precariously placed on the edge 
and no I was not wearing steel toecaps.....just trainers as you do
Lesson learned..dont lend tools to mates and lazily put them back when they are returned, so it was his fault

Back in the bus garage, a 1" ugga-dugga gun fell nose first onto my big toe (left).
Nail eventually fell off, the toe got very blue and went in a sulk.
For the next 20+ years the nail never grew back straight, then gradually started doing it.
Workplace supplied some utterly useless 'clogs' which didn't have a steel toecap and that minor accident caused a bit of an upheaval, with everybody being issued proper safety footwear, after the union reps got into it.
You wanna know the best bit?
Some ashholes blamed me for the loss of their beloved clogs.

I bought an Electra Elecheib induction hob from Comet as they were going bust in September 2012. That well known make designed in Israel and made in Turkey. Started at £399...reduced to £199 and then found a 15% off code. So £169.15 all in. Schott Ceran glass etc. Figured for the money we'd take a chance. Fambloodytastic it's been too!
Today the youngest turned it on and the dedicated RCBO tripped. Reset it but the hob just won't switch on at all now. Got as far as putting a volt stick on the ingoing cable so I know there's power going to it. Tomorrow's job. I imagine it's terminal

the car...again...well, its not fully broke yet but it will be soon...intercooler full of oily diesel and and audible boost leak somewhere, noticed the intercooler issue as it was dripping from bottom hose (the one that is prone to failure and a pig to change, ask me how i know) fed from EGR...ive drained as much as i can with the intercooler in place (appeared to be about 1/4 full based on what came out) buts going to need to come off for a bath in degreaser and a flush and then figure out where its coming from and pray its not turbo related, then drop the oil and flush...ironically i did think to myself the other day its doing a lot of regens again and thats usually a sign somehting is up with the EGR, MAF/MAP or the fueling based on the last issues its had...might be time to go to something more reliable...like a rnage rover...even my td5 was more reliable than this thing, just not as quick or comfy

I always have trouble getting these brake cylinder retaining clips back in place, having freed off one of the pistons the clip pinged off somewhere. I'm working in the front of the shed which isn't overloaded with stuff, so I was able to find it.
Ah.
Back to the box of brake bits for a spare which I fortunately had, and that went on without too much trouble.

^ Oh, I'll have to look out for one of those. I don't do it very often, though, so it's not a big deal. Does it just screw into the brake pipe hole, then screw down the top bit to push the clip into place over the tapered part?
