na the easy jet stuff isnt welded it is all masticed together..

well i have allready been there for basic welds.. and they were accepted... was nervous tho.... being told that i didnt need an interview but if i passed the basic test i would get the job...

but for this 3 it should be end of the week.. and guess what was the hardest test.... yes it was the fillet. no burn through on 1mm plate

Decided I had not had my weekly intake of welding fumes so headed to the workshop and had a think.

Saw the huge box of spanners I bought at a car boot for a couple of quid, there must be over 100, so decided a couple would be killed to make coat hooks for my scruffy old welding jacket which if I take into the house she throws into the bin (rescued twice so far)

It's nothing clever or special but it does the job perfectly and you can't ask for more than that.

Still another 100 or so spanners to find a use for

Sadly those spanners all had bean rendered useless by the last owner who ground them to fit bolts he made.

Not done a lot at all recently in the garage welding, only thing over the last few days off and on is fabricating a bit of a bracket for a kit car engine, not near finishing yet.

At some point an engine mount has to be made and welded to it.

today i started my new job as an areospace welder
one out of the 1 tests i did failed, and it was the fillet.... butt and pipe was clean...
so redid the fillet test again... more power this time, since it failed in lack of root pen.
and started welding up some parts to go into plane wings

Today I helped my friend offload about two tons of steel into his shop, and then I kind of did some welding.
I cut 8" off each of my shoe laces, fired up the torch, and welded (melted) the ends to stop fraying; I hate the absurdly long laces that come with boots nowadays.

Finished off some machining of pulleys to fit, bought a belt to make sure it went on and have a lightweight alternator on a Zetec with modified ign timing. Frame next and run the engine up with cooling etc.


Well the frame is the next stage.
