It never got so lonely I felt the need to abuse gas cylinders, though I wasn't a stoker and they were the ones reknowned for being a "bit" deviant.

Looks like they have dropped the dress standards for the Paras a bit nowadays, that hair looks a bit long laddie.....

Started on a garden table, cut down an old steel frame table, tacked up and now just need to let shoulders recover from fixing car exhaust today before putting proper welds in, grind clean and repaint

Nice, I like a bit of recycling, you just gave me an idea for MIG project.

I know what you mean about shoulders, mine were painful after changing a defender turbo on Saturday then last night the right one really hurt when something went crunch when I was turning the pages in a newspaper

A little project for a mate, turn a power fed (conveyor belt) sander into a centrifugal sander, i.e velcro backed drum and table. We were going to build it from scratch and then the yard yielded this gem in the corner, the place never ceases to amaze me how my old man collects things like this, 3 phase drum sander ready for the chop!

Raised the motor, now to make the table top and enclosures

I am told by my woodworking pal that these centrifugal sanders can not be brought and are a much prefered method of sanding, it works by the roller peaking through a slot in the bed, as it spins the force pulls the sandpaper just off the roller, the gentle rub cuts the work.

The old sander had a nice ground 10mm plate for the feed system, turned it into a new Tig bench

Has these reinforcements to keep it true, cut them back and refitted for added "anti warp"

Some second hand casters and some left over plastic sheet and it's nearly done, just want to add a rail to hang a grinder or two on and maybe somewhere to hang my mig torch when tacking up..

Will do, the frame needs a coat of paint, top plate is ground both sides and drilled for the conveyer feeder from the old power sander, the old sander was as I say power fed, problem for cabinet makers is they require a soft sander, the one in progress will work by the centrifugal force of the paper lifting off the roller surface hence the feeder is not required, made a nice bench, I left a 40mm overlap for clamps and the drilled and tapped holes could be used for clamps too should I need to clamp work down, pleased with the outcome so far, I do have a small ground plate that I use to check forks etc but it's 25mm think and busts balls to move from bench to bench.
