Does this to your hands tooNot a good idea to put your lathe straight onto oak it's got a hight tannic acid content which is why you allways use brass fixings,it will corrode the underside of your lathe in contact with the oak,if I were doing it I would use some plastic dpc between the lathe & the oak.
