Update on Scewfix: I phoned them and they were very helpful: I just need to order and pay for the items and they will all be delivered to Oban, when I go up to collect they will refund me and I can use the gift card - getting a fast charger, 2 x Milwaukee 6Ah batteries, Milwaukee deep impact socket set and Milwaukee Impact adaptors.
M12 Stubby fuel ordered from toolstation.
So sorted and I hope @BrokenBiker s friend was just unlucky with Milwaukee, for power and size it does seem the best compromise.

Go for the 5ah high output not the 6ah batteries. They’re only £3 extra each but a big difference.
Still a farce with the gift voucher

Don’t ask me how the battery gubbins works but you definitely get more out the high output than standard. I went from 6ah to 5ah and you noticed the difference. The 2.5 high output is very good too for the smaller form factor.

Personally I would get every battery impact wrench and bin them. Nearly every M6 or M8 bolt I try to undo at work has been stripped by one of them used by idiots. I get so annoyed about this. And I get called a fossil for still using a ratchet.
As you said “used by idiots” says it all ,in defence of a battery impact!
Quite. I only want mine to undo. I spin on by hand and tighten with a torque wrench.
On the 18 volt M18 Milwaukee cordless tools the "High Output" batteries can provide a higher output current draw ( known as "C" ) because, rather than 18650, they use 21700 Li-Ion cells ( 21mm diameter, 7 cm long ). Due to the increased diameter, 21mm vs. 18mm, these cells would not fit inside the handle of the 12 volt M12 tools, so I suppose they just are using improved 18650 cells with a higher "C" rating.
[ For 18650 cells the nominal current draw is 1C, where C represents the Ah capacity, and that is typically 2Ah or 3Ah. For some 21700 cells the output current value can be as high as 3.75C, and the capacity "C" is higher too - from 3Ah to 5Ah per cell.
For both sizes, short-term peak output current can be 10C, so a single 21700 cell could supply 50 Amps! They need to - the ESC ( electronic speed control ) or the BMS ( battery management system ) on the Milwaukee cordless 9-inch angle grinder allows the brushless motor to draw 180 Amps before it shuts down. In a 12Ah battery there are three 4Ah 21700 cells in parallel. The maximum allowed 180 Amps would be 60 Amps per cell, or 15C. ]

tbh.. I have the 6 station 18v charger and it's really good.... mostly because if I've been using a few tools I can just dump all the batteries on it and forget about them, I use it as somewhere to keep them
not sure how/what it does but it does some kind of charge/discharge cycle/thing after a while which apparently keeps the batteries healthy... which is fine, not sure how it works... maybe it drops them to 80% charged for a longer shelf life after they've been on the charger for a few days? all mine still show fully charged when you press the test button ... unless you put copy batteries on it, it just runs them dead flat then stops :-o
