I was just on their website, looks the best price for a bare unit and can get batteries, charger and some deep sockets from screwfix.

Thanks for the offer, the comparative size of the M12 Milwaukee is very tempting for tight spaces.I have that exact model Tom. Been good enough for what I needed it for - very seized strut bolts on my V70, wheel nuts to save my knackered body, stuff like that.
Compared to my friend’s 3/4” drive Milwakee (sp?) it’s not as pokey by a whack but that’s not fair as this is a half inch drive.
For what it’s worth I’m on the ’free’ battery Bosch did in the promo when I got it. Worth checking what they have on now. It’s a 4Ah battery and not Pro so don’t know if the technology makes a difference or not…

You’ll find the M12 range has some great tools from ratchets and die grinders to drills and planers.
Buy the rapid M18/12 charger. It’s only £5 more but much faster than the standalone M12.
The 5ah High Output battery gives you the full quoted torque for the latest gen stubby torque gun. The 2.5ah High Output is great for smaller tools and even holds its own when used on a planer.
If you’re not bothered about charging speeds I’ll have a new but probably dusty standard M12 charger you can have for postage.

I've had a DeWalt for 6 years now, used it on my cars, bikes and every day in work on the wreckers while I was on them...taking half shafts out of trucks and busses, doing airbags and brake chambers, minor engine work on trucks, tractors and coaches, forklifts etc...it'sbeen dropped off trailers, fallen out of the locker on the wreckers, I've used it to open the drive hub on the crane...never out a foot wrong. It's been abused, teased, neglected and still just simply works...about 3 years ago I trained a friend on the wreckers...he is a tool tart and bought Milwaukee...in the 4 weeks I was training him, he had to send it off twice for warranty work to be done, and then had to replace the charger not long after...

Just discovered Screwfix gift cards can only be redeemed in store. Oban, my local store does not have all the items I want and I can only order for in-store collection if I pay on line! Oban is around 2 hours round trip away, so will phone them tomorrow.
Are you sure? Is there not a code on the voucher that can be used online?

Whatever you buy you need the good batteries to get full performance from it.
What about buying the large and small makita clones from aliexpress and use your screwfix vouchers to buy some decent batteries and a charger.
I would not recommend using a fast charger all the time. It will shorten the lifetime of your batteries and you will get a longer runtime on a slow charge.

I got an impact driver from a charity shop, 3 quid I think, still boxed & unused several years ago. It’s still unused in a box, but “one day Rodney” as someone once said!

They're all on the chunky side especially Dewalt. The extended ones have a more normal shape at the ratchet end. I had the Milwaukee extended ratchet but never got on with it as the head seemed to far from my hand so sold it on to another member on here. I really wish I still had it on a couple of recent jobs
