Today I ordered

It’s been in in the kitchen for a few days, with flies zooming around in front of it, like Spitfires in a dog fight, and the last two days in the front room.

It’s killed 1 small moth so far. Not a single fly. Utterly useless.

Part of the problem is house flies are not as attracted to light as moths. They are more attracted to smells.
Put out some food with a strong smell and block the path to it with the fly killer. Might catch more flies thar way.

I didn't like to say when you posted, in-case things have improved over the years, but that's exactly the experience I had with one a good few years ago.

I bought two blue tube industrial ones - the ones I remember in butchers shops as a kid (do they still have them? butchers shops, and fly killers in them?) that used to go "BUZZZZZ" and there'd be a smoke trail rising . . .

I had a serious woodworm issue, and part of the life cycle is a fly, so belt and braces - one hung in the loft, one under the house. Flippin hundreds of 'em in the catch tray . . .

Problem is the tubes have now failed, and they seem to be some off the wall size and I've not yet found replacement. Probably need complete new units.

The UV/HV killers I'm told are not used. They tend cause the insect to disintegrate, filling the air with particles. Not seen as good in a food environment.

You need Diagnostics to empty the ashtray these days and a monthly subscription to even have an ashtray.

I'm glad some days l mostly work on older cars daily, my own two S211 Mercedes owe me more in tools and diagnostic kit than l paid for both of them!

Waiting for a new Freehub & Cassette to come for my mountain bike. The cassette rattled loose after a spirited clatter down Snowdon's Rangers Route back in March (along with the Derailleur & rear brake caliper). It's lasted till now, but very much on the way out.

When I got my six dual tube industrial UV fly killers for our small mammal farm I also got ten spare tubes as I found from precious experience elsewhere I couldn't get new tubes for my older ones that were just over four years old .
