The Die Filer arrived. Its an OPUS 120 model, made in Italy. A heavy beast, but its in great condition and came with a good inventory of tooling with files; also has a sawing attachment. Needs a good clean, and a coat of my favourite green paint.

Got do some building work round my Mums so scored this old Baromix cement mixer off ebay. Guy had listed it a couple of times and been mucked about by buyers, so took £20 for it.

I've got several motors, so wasn't bothered that he said it didn't work. Took motor off, it spun free, so took off terminal box to find mains cable had been pulled and a spade terminal had come off and shorted out. Put new cable on and it run great, but noisy, so at lunchtime I stuck a pair of bearings in it, found a new fan and cover, and it now runs like a dream!
I really think it has only been used a couple of times, no wear to feet bottoms, wheels tight, pulleys and belt ok and drum not damaged at all.
I need to make/find a stand now, if anybodys got one!

I went to pick up the filing cabinets yesterday but holy moly those things were bigger than I thought. And one of them didn't have proper drawers, it was more for hanging folders in. So I only got the one with proper drawers, only one would fit in the car anyhow (I only have a toyota Yaris). Good thing I only got the one, because I could barely fit this cabinet somewher in my shop but I placed it next to the drill press, I will need to pull the drill press out if I drill something bigger so it's gonna be kinda annoying, might have to move other things about....

There is another cabinet I didn't get still at the place I bought this one, same dimensions except only two drawers high, I am thinking of going back for it and replacing it as my drill press stand, would also be 20€.

These are some serious drawers, full extension, lockable, there's some kind of safety system so only one drawer at a time can be opened.
I've been lacking deep drawers to store bigger stuff in.

For the top drawer I decided to make an insert so I can use more of the vertical height of the drawer, here was a use for my diy sheet metal brake. I think I will make another insert for the drawer underneath too. I might TIG weld ends on this drawer to stiffen it up.

A Hardy Pick No9 Auger, proper pre-WWI kit. Gave it a light going over with a wire brush to remove the loose rust but didn't press too hard to lose the lovely patina, then oiled it to stabilise it. Although I intend to use it, it's pretty as an ornament and looks great in the shed. I'm having some issues with Photobucket sending me on an infinite login loop, so pics later.

It's like a really stout scroll saw that holds a file rather than a saw blade.

A handy machine indeed. Have a look on the www.lathes.co.uk website . There is a list describing several different industrial filers. Scroll down, and look on the right hand side near the bottom of the page. As these machines are considered obsolete, finding one complete with tooling at a reasonable price is difficult.

Picked up a set of Moore & Wright g-clamps today. Part of the handle seems to be missing though, I had to use a vice grips to get it cranked down good and tight.
