Bought this for the first time...it's called chip quik.....it's very useful for removing components from existing boards.

Really has been a game changer for me as the low melting temperature makes it a lot easier to remove existing components without heat damaging them.

Got my second hand Bosch 18v drill today.

My friend got one of these taser lighter things, no idea what the benefit is, but given the arc length it's got to be in the low kilovolts, of course the first thing I did was touch it. Apparently no one else had tried it, but clearly a degree has no bearing on daftness. :whistle:

Meant to be great for wind and don't need to buy gas to refill just plug in to charge like a torch.

If you want an actual taser thing get one of these they give the finger numbing arm jerking combo when producing 1-2cm arcs :laughing:

Good stuff, I got two of those sharpeners at 50p each, how bad can they be. It would be irritating if they work better than the £150 Milwaunkee rotary tool :laughing:

I also got lots of rotary tool bits and a pair of full length diamond chainsaw files.

I noticed that the rotary bits were all 4mm, so I put another haul order in.

I appear to have ordered three 1/4" socket sets, for 50p each!? :laughing:

Edit: the price appears to have dropped to 23p!

Haul is a bit sneaky, any UK shipped items were not part of the 60% off thing, I was going to get some 3d filament.

However I like their accounting mistake. Add 3 quid postage, take off 60% and then remove the full three quid, so my £17 basket cost nearly nothing..

Seeing that I would automatically think of Lowe & Fletcher they've been supplying that style lock for many years, but probably costs 10x what you paid for it.

One of the bits of kit we see at work is known as a Holiday Detector, aka pinhole detector or spark tester; in use the operator pushes a brush along a painted surface (typically a pipeline) while the thing knocks out upto 40kV (at low current). In the vent of a pinhole in the coating, an arc jumps the gap and the machine emits a beep to let the operator know.
The propensity for shocks due to failing insulation on them is legendary... we used to have one fruitcake who would grab the brush in one hand and the earth return in the other - at 20kV. It's probably similar to a failing HT lead on a petrol engine initially; his argument was that once he'd shorted it out the power supply couldn't maintain the 20kV so the average voltage was much lower.
