Bought this little record from the scrap tinker the other day. Been too stressed over personal matters so forgot about it
Gave him a fiver . Shame as I sold a pallet of vices on here for FA and lost a days money sorting out the pallet, seller’s regret for sure as I was getting a bit of a collection!

Been getting fed up with the direct drive compressor noise (plus I think it's likely to die soon, as it has done quite a bit of work!), so I acquired this -
And thankfully it's a 10 bar version
Just a tripod mount, and the control box is broken, but it'll reduce the need for the noisy compressor to run as much.
Service kit has been ordered, but still need to work out how I'm going to plumb it into the existing system.

I have a small collection too, if I see one going cheap & have some spare cash I usually buy it. I see it as an investment, vices always go up in value & if you buy right you can make money.
BTW if you spot any bargain wood vices let me know, especially a record No 52, 52 1/2 or a 53. Trying to buy a few for our Men's shed.

Thats a lot of copper! Steel is a similar density, would it be adequate to have a steel core with large copper faces cast around it?
Tungsten core and copper faces would be quite nice. I have a small lump of tungsten for a future project.
My sledge is a lump of 100mm steel round bar with a scaffold pole welded on , 7.5kg

Gold - pure 19.32
Tungsten 19.22
Platinum is up on 21.45

Actually two of these. His dad should have given him a clout round the head instead of indulging him to make a quirky, unsustainable piece of tat. I'm thinking the only reason any part of it will last 37 years is as the ***ky 2 core ribbon cable will fail long before that as it has on both of these.
