My Chinese made earth clamp also had magnetic copper too it seems! Just got to be very careful what you buy these days.

What does the label/receipt say what it is?

For brake lines used materials are copper-nickel or copper-beryllium alloys with the odd Fe particle in there too, I'm sure ...

I've seen pure copper piping in applications with water without antifreeze, so I know what kind of deformation they allow before they burst when the water freezes and the pressure has nowhere to go ....

I wouldn't see these pure copper lines in a brake application at all, the hydraulic pressure in them is worlds higher - if you've been using this stuff successfully for a long time, then I suspect it was these alloys.

Very good stuff! And a rusted steal pipe that immediately bursts in an emergency without deforming is no help to anyone.

It's always the same discussion with the German TÜV: some car manufacturers already use these lines from the factory, then it's good and right, but if the inspector sees something like this under an old car, then it depends on the person and the feeling that day of the inspector - a bit schizophrenic.

1) I always try to find out in advance which inspector will be testing in the workshop in question on the day in question;

2) if discussions are to be expected, I always arm myself with stacks of paper - don't forget, I'm a German too not only he is ...
-- if the unwilling inspector has read DIN/ISO and BAM (Bundesamt für Materialprüfung = Federal Office for Materials Testing) or seen his own logo

often enough, he usually backs down .... and writes me down a minor defect instead , which I can usually live with ....

Nothing to do with welding but, father happened to mention to one of his farmer friends I was looking at making a small golf driving range down the field. This morning the farmer drop off a golf mat it looks barely used. It weighs about 50-60kg with 4 T holes I have it set up in the home garage at the moment so I can have a couple swings before work. That will be the nickel content in it so what you have is cupronickel pipe, the best stuff for brake pipe.

Don’t buy eBay ones they are crap

My god the genuine 3M stuff isn't cheap! I bought a selection of sanding, stripping and finishing discs. The items below totalled just over £50

Brake pipe isn't cupronickel, it's CuNiFe.

CuNiFe is pretty rare for brake pipe, mostly 90/10 copper nickel.

Could be copper coated bundy, shouldn't be used as brake pipe as it can be welded pipe.

My welding clamps were coated...badly....it scratched off very easily

I've always wanted one , never had the luck to find one till now
This thing is over 1600 euros and I've got it for 1/10 of it .

I was planning to get a "cheap" 200 euros rebir Morse taper 2 drill (picture above), and build a line boring rig (we never know I might need it )
Happened to find one of those Fein on the bay ,by looking at the auctions (I seriously need to take a break from them) so I've digit "Fein DSK" and appeared this and other ones .
Italian seller ,read the description,eBay buyer protection, offered a lower price than what demanding , accepted and bought .
Little sad it's not a Fein BOS 32-4 (4 gears version) but it's my first Fein
