I must have missed the "Just Say No!" campaign...all legit and told to take:

2 crates of this evil crap:

A duff, I guess, hand dryer. I want the stainless for my gate:

x2 24vac trannies, 24vac relays and bases, grommets, glands, fixings, those colour wires you never have to extend others and a 10k temp probe I think:

Some stainless door closer bits that will yield some nice flat bar:

A few bits of steel, 25mm box, light angle and channel, couple of scaffold tube off cuts:

Assorted lengths of BZP studding etc:

Plus I reckon 40kg of mixed plumbing scrap to sort and weigh in.

Apparently, otherwise they have to pay someone to take it...

... Tool dealers only ever stock these sizes from one quality brand - if you need that size you pay the extra - the prices are no longer those of 1952 as in the catalogue ...

... something old again:

In the neighbouring village, a young man who had decided to extend his stay at school instead of taking the next best thing to earn money like his buddies - he had a little sale.
I can only support this and any increase in pocket money was most welcome.

But I didn't get a backstory how this thing got to this area.

This piece has seen much better days, but what paint is left is original.

Apparently the box used to have a flap or roll-up door over most of the front, when the lit is closed two pins go down which now only secure the top two drawers, but used to secure all of them I guess.

Since I want to use the box stationary, I don't need them - it's already much too heavy to lug around empty.

Cleaning, derusting, oiling and rubber lining the compartments should do the trick.

I wanted to respond to your comment directly with prices (along with a mortgage joke) and of course I thought it would be quick ....

After an extensive search it now looks like Hazet have discontinued this type of cranked ring spanner head after decades (it's in the 1952 catalogue, bought mine in 2016 from a licensed dealer) at least I can't find them on the current Hazet site.

Perhaps a commercial decision: If you only buy the head with stub, you can legitimately assume that this costs less than a complete spanner, even though the quality is in the head - it only gets expensive for the buyer with the comparatively cheap-to-manufacture tube - but a solid selection of tube pieces can be found behind any well-stocked workshop .....

So, I can't help. Sorry.

Gedore apparently still makes this type, but I'd bet a body part that it doesn't fit the Hazet tubes.

I have a Stahlwille torque wrench that I found in the back of a machine cabinet donkey's years ago.
The 3/8" drive ratchet head has always had a tendency to slip, although I've tried filing the teeth a couple of times.
By and large I've ignored it, instead using one of my Britool, Norbar or even Aldi wrenches depending on the job.
A few weeks back I was fiddling with the Stahlwille and realised that the ratchet head is detachable: it turns out you can fit different square drives, hexes, open-enders and whatever else to the basic wrench! Interestingly, because of the tension system it uses, you can leave it preset and it doesn't weaken the spring, unlike a 'conventional' torque wrench.
I found places selling the ratchet heads: 1/4" to 1/2" square drives are about £90 - and the current version of the wrench itself is about £300.

Thanks for looking Carsten. It’s a shame they don’t make them anymore. I’ve got a few like that I’ve made with cutting the spanner in half and flattening a piece of pipe but an ‘official’ one would be better

They are good. Not necessarily a stahlwille one but those detachable heads. Teng do one. Bloke I worked for last week had one and never realised. I need a new torque wrench so may look at them if you’re happy with it….
