I am not a road cyclist thank you, I actively avoid roads and lycra

I resisted lycra for years but I'm a convert now. If you're buying carbon for speed, you'd be much better served buying lycra instead, I put about 1.5mph on my average speed overnight with lycra, carbon frameset made no difference.

Carbon is lovely off road (They look like gravel bars?) when it comes to hopping off and carrying the bike over rough terrain though, and of course it looks cool.

Had a great score today got some brand new shelving. First day back at work and I'm demolishing a concrete staircase in a retail unit. I spotted these in an alcove and the guy said it was headed for the skip and I could have them.

I got 8 of the corner uprights 20-odd of the flat bars and 9 chipboard shelves. The only bits missing were the shorter cross-braces but I have an excess of the long ones so I'll cut them up and repurpose them for dual service. I might even corner-notch them and bend them through 90 so each one makes a L shaped long and short side. These could not have come at a better time as I needed some shelving to take all of the bits for my new milling machine!

The carbon is for off road, the bike is a Marin Gestalt X10 gravel bike, that I bought to actually take off road. Speed is not my main concern right now. New bars have been fitted and a quick trial run with the new tape feels good. I'm less convinced with the saddle
For reasons I am not going into on a public forum I am unable to wear Lycra, even if I wanted to. MTB style trousers with padded undershorts are my current choice

Indeed, I was also irritated at first, didn't know how to pronounce it.

"Gestalt" = "shape, figure, form, guise, build, design, likeness, coherent perception".

So rather not field marshal, but perhaps private Gestalt.

With similar conversations on the Lotus Seven club forum, where carbon nosecone,s cycle wings, rear wings, aeroscreens, seats, steering wheels, no paint, no heater, etc etc and all the weight saved . . . and someone who really needed to cut back on the pies clambered in . . I used to mention an advert I saw on US TV while was pretty much living over there in 2005 - some product/device/treatment that claimed to remove several pounds of compacted facial material from somewhere up where the sun really ought not to be shining . . .

First time I saw it, I was sat in an Applebees enjoying their maple nut brownie . . .

I am fairly certain that Newker are the manufacturers of the controls and others like SZGH rebadge them. The thing about SZGH however is they have excellent support and Mike, their engineer, knows the controls inside out.

Of course, I don't know anything about these in particular, they are probably no longer usable for the original purpose ....

... but, I do know a method of welding cast iron in the TIG process using a special cast welding electrode, where the sheathing is knocked off beforehand - so roughly what you found here - so should work well.
