By the 'buffers' on the bottom, that looks like it came from a hospital?

Lockhart seem to do catering equipment, but I couldn't find that "Revola" name on their website. The buffer is missing off the leg that has the problem, so I wonder if it's a part of the retaining clip - it's been modified by having a wooden plug rammed in, and a 6" woodscrew as a pivot.

I picked this trolley off the scrap this afternoon. It's got a dodgy caster that someone has tried to fix, but it'll probably be OK and almost certainly better than my other two trolleys which are both old tea trolleys.

Nice find, I used a tea trolley for some years for my tool box … until the wheels went goofy with the weight. It was far better than the proper tool trolley that I replaced it with as it was small & manoeuvrable.

Nice find, I used a tea trolley for some years for my tool box … until the wheels went goofy with the weight. It was far better than the proper tool trolley that I replaced it with as it was small & manoeuvrable.

Yes, this is the current one, and I've a wooden one as well, both chucked out. The top of this one lifts out as a tray, but I haven't used that feature much.

A nice little laser distance sensor for a raspberry pi. I'm going to use it to detect if the pellet boiler's hopper is empty, and gauge pellet consumption.

Here it is being tested using a breakout board on a pi. It worked straight out of the box, just need to configure the i2c bus on the pi and add a python library and off you go.

Here's output from the example python file, I just moved my hand in front of the sensor a little to change the distance.

I'll make a few changes so it puts the output into a database so I can alert on nearly empty and graph usage. I can calibrate the sensor by letting the hopper empty then throw in a 15kg bag of pellets at a time.

I'm printing off a tiny case for the sensor then I'll wire it into the hopper tomorrow.

That is the same as I was using. It was great, just the right size, as I said, more use than the proper one I bought. It was left in the house when we moved in 20 odd years ago & lasted for about 12 years.

Moore and Wright 6" caliper from machine DRO with battery's which was just under £30 for a import non mitutoyo level tool but quite good quality alot nicer than the ultra cheap ones for fit and finish and nice sliding motion.
