Today I acquired...........

A tank of propane for the Bullfinch torch, the only F-clamps left in the store, and an electrical enclosure for the pillar drill phase converter.

I need several converters so decided to install them in a cabinet with plug in receptacles attached rather than having the machines individually hard wired in. As a couple are on wheels, it will make things simpler if I have to move them, as currently I'm limited on working space.

Few hours today to explore the island and hit a few second hand shop.

I took a quick trip to a know good one, been a few years since I was last in there
Very few tools, a glut of camera equipment, lots of nic knacks.
Di cast toys by the box. China, pewter items, gold and silver.
Plus a few items for me.

Local charity shop.

Decent canting blade spoke shave, sliding square and a 4 to 24 saw set.



1/4 Drive socket set, need to be added to so I can make it complete



Top four, Stamped GPO, 51 and a Braord arrow.
Bottom 3, lhs same but a date of 62.
Then a random kitchen scale weight.

The GPO weights have a lead insert to adjust as required, should be sealed with hard wax with a stamp, pressed in to the wax.
The hand tools and the weights, £10




A few old Mamod bits, they do need a lot of TLC. £4

Talking of Mamods.




This was not staying behind, not at £45.

Just needs new drive bands, steering rod.

2 new Oregon saw chains the correct length! and a sharpening kit.

I have recently bought two electric chainsaws and both needed sharpening. I did a google on how to go about it and found out that you use a round file and sharpening guide. I realised that I'd had two of those in my file drawer since clearing out my late father's stuff in 2010 - but never knew what they were for.

Set of brake hoses for a Jeep Cherokee XJ, ordered 7pm Monday evening from RockAuto in the US, arrived today.



Local factors couldn't get any, they were cheaper and probably quicker from RA than eBay, and they will definitely fit

Odd lot.

The Hose pipe attachment is interesting.
Crown stamp, with VR and a Patt Pending Number.

the pliers are very nice, they are old dentist pulling pillars.
Designed for extracting molars from patients lower jaws.

Free.
Last job of the day, stopped by a customer, sorted her extinguishers out for a service.
Hers needed replacing, so I swopped some from my van stock. They go out of date in 2022. She gets an extra year, I get nice styuff and a few brownies points.

One of those diesel heaters that YouTube was full of a few months ago.

Quite a decent discount from new from a Dodgy geezer flogging Amazon returns at a guess.

There was diesel in the tank and the wires had been connected. He knocked another fiver whilst I ummed and ahhed....

So wasn't too surprised to see this.

Common fault jammed fan. Some percussive maintenance required to move it on the shaft.

Rubbing on controller.

Fan is free to spin an it works

Now upgrading with a fuel filter and isolator switch. On its own little trolley.

Watch out for those, a few campers have burnt down due to them.

It will run in the workshop only when I'm in there. But thanks for the heads-up

They do put some heat out and you have to let it go through a cool down cycle before switching off. If you don't the controller fries...

Watch out for the exhaust too, gets very, very hot, as you would expect.

It will go through a bit of steel pipe through a brick wall. I'm not sure how many people know to use exhaust assembly paste when adding the pipe.

Also looked at heating oil as a source , However doing diesel generator filter changes you seem to acquire some dirty diesel from the filters and shame to pay to recycle it soo

Yeah my mums have been rubbish too, but the sloes on the farm are abundant, I won't be picking any as we made loads of gin a year or so back and haven't drunk any of it yet...

Glad you posted that. I have the truck mounted version and the only things I could find was that E06 was ECU fault. Mine has a jammed fan too. Or it did
