That was a freezing winter, I pre-date you by a couple of years and I remember being fascinated by the snow on my pram hood, when my mum put me out in the garden until I stopped crying

Perfect if that's what you needed - but I have that in my 1935 handy mans book . . . and learnt such basic stuff at school.
They put different stuff in each year, so I'll bet that wasn't in my set even if I had forgotten it - some of the stuff I did find was incorrect. For decent engineering info, I really found them no use at all - good for sitting on the desk and adding to the appearance of knowing a lot of stuff but not much else
. One of my colleagues had a set from a different year . . . also in pristine condition . . . neither of us actually use them.My 1979 Machinerys Handbook is much more useful as an engineering reference book.
I very rarely trust anything I find on internet - too many "experts" who can post anything with nobody fact checking.

But at least they used a manly fuse.A Philips no3? driver bit, FOC but from an unusual placeneeded a plug so cut one off an old motor I have kicking about. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have tools(note the polarity)!

Our men's shed hit the oil well of good fortune today. A local chap, now retired, who ran his own business, wanted his equipment to go to a good cause rather than flogging it on eBay and seeing a buyer re-list it at a much higher price. This morning I picked up a 1.5 cwt (77 kg) anvil, a 12" square swage block (both with stands), a sizeable set of hand shears which are currently seized up and some useful offcuts of steel. Still to come: a steel cut-off saw with a 12" steel blade (currently not working), a bandsaw and a MIG welder that has been converted to run flux-cored wire. That's for collection another day. The whole lot is completely free . . . one of those occasions when words just don't do justice to the gratitude felt.
A 500 ml spray can in the background for scale. All the items are fairly rusty but over time, I'll get them looking a bit more presentable.
Gone are the days when I could cradle an anvil that weight and walk around a bit
- it took two of us old farts to shift the darned thing!

I haven't put the safety specs on her yet, not sure how best to do it as I am not keen on the fixing method.
I did fit her phone holder though, not wired yet as I will likely get the optional accessory socket and wire into that but also have the heated grips to be fitted at first service (didn't come in on time) so will use the cable fixings for them to route the charger wires..

Well here she is, not keen on it to be honest but it is better than £700 for a new headlight unit. Lots of roadworks going on around here at the moment and stones flying up from other vehicles is a risk.
I might see what it looks like with the black pads like these, they are cheap enough so if I don't like I haven't wasted much money.
The other option I have is to try and design/make some form of upper and lower brackets to fit it.
