A gas leak, well discovered it, outside thankfully and and smashing the concrete (flints and steel) didn't set it off. Its been leaking for ages and there is a void under the slab so could have been my last project (ever). When the gas pipe looks like this its time for a new one, SGN are on the case, its rusted through so no cost to me.

You think that is bad I'm currently removing 400 tonnes of concrete slab due to a leaky pipe...

Think they can feed the new pipe down inside the old one for most of the run so that is a win, although the slab is coming up any way. Thankfully this bit of slab is only 25m2 and not 400t don't think my breaker or I would survive that. SGN have capped it off now so the risk as it was has gone, cutting the pipe to fit the compression fitting and it snapped at the next joint so is in a much worse state than thought, glad its been found before the new paving goes down. They will set it lower because its less than 50mm deep where it enters the house so that will help.

A Nakiri is the best style of veg knife in my opinion Better still is a chinese cleaver, but it gets a bit fiddly to use on small stuff, where as that's more suited to just about everything.

How is it?

That Global should be a better blade than my procook x50 which isn't as good as the hype suggests, it's alright but the steel won't hold a paper cutting edge for long. Then again, it was cheap...

New unused Mitsubishi plc and relay extension unit from a job I’ve been doing. We replaced a panel with a different type of controller so these unused spares out of stores were going in the skip - but not on my watch!!

I decided I wanted a smaller and lighter (1 kg vs 2.4 kg for my Makita) drill. It'll be nice when working above head height and also when drilling pilot/countersink followed by clearance followed by doing a screw up as I can have the pilot/countersink bit in one drill, the clearance bit in another drill and the Torx bit in the impact driver rather than continuously swapping bits.

A bit of hacking at a bit of plywood & some holes drilled in some 10 mm bar created a simple storage place for it & its attachments:

Good bit of kit, those. That right angle head is worth its weight in gold, those occasions you need it.

Only time I use my Makita these days, is if I need the extra grunt. Those Bosch 12V are far nicer & easier to use for most tasks.

Bought a vocoder they day after. Again didn't even register.

And again tonight. Spent a chunk on audio cables and rack ears ready for a cabinet build and she didn't even blink.

I have four pop riveters, they are all pants. Either worn out or nose pieces missing or the mandrel gets stuck and one that likes to give you blood blisters. So treated myself to this.

I have always used air riveters. Tucker being the best.
Sadly I have since discovered that pop rivets are not the best so I have decided on one of these!

Unfortunately the ubiquitous Tucker pop is at the very bottom (read cheap) long list of blind fasteners, which explains why they often don't live up to expectations.
Something thats probably not helped by us using the wrong length rivet for the grip range and shoving them into out of tolerance holes half the time.

I'd agree that a nice solid rivet is a thing of beauty, but having fitted millions of the things over the years, can confirm that it's defiantly an art that needs some degree of practice and its far easier and quicker to just shove a Tucker pop in the hole and hope it holds 99% of the time.

Well I have set thousands of pop rivets - but solid rivets so far I have only managed 4
Didn't help only having a cheap air chisel gun though need something with more finesse.
I will need around 500 to 1000 on the trailer I am building so I may well give up and use pop rivets - far easier and more than strong enough.
Yes I am always careful to choose the right length.
