I normally try and buy branded stuff but Im getting cheesed of with all this LED stuff that last a million years, saves the planet and saves me money, its all rubbish!!
So rather than the Crompton lamps that lasted about 12 months ive bought some unbranded chinesium which look like they are made in the same place but a third of the price and brighter!
Time will tell if they end up in landfill

Only branded LED bulb in our house that has lasted "as advertised" has been the phillips one.
The rest are consumable....I have single fittings with around 30 LED bulbs per fitting....every few weeks I have one start flickering and have to change it. Still better than the old lamps....used to be every few days....but at least the old ones had the good grace to just go out....instead of going all disco like the LEDs!

Rescued 2 sets of plug in LED bulb strips destined for bin, £40 a pop in IKEA 
, epoxied neodymium magnets to the bases so I can detach / move around - the epoxy is winning at the moment, but heck those magnets are strong! The light is good, may need a mirror and some make up to finish the "look"

Acquired of off the Bay of Fleas and collected it yesterday.
It had run for one bidding cycle and wasn't purchased, so I put in a bid and won it for £103.00, it's been dry stored for about 2 years.
The condition appears to be very good, hopefully a diamond in the dirt, a good clean, some cable and crossed fingers....

I block and tackled mine apart, drained the oil, and it was all good, then put the oil back in. Worth checking.

The guy I purchased it off, bought it of a retired blacksmith and tried to teach himself to weld, but trying to use a 13amp plug to power it...........it kept tripping the breaker.... so he put it in the shed and left it.
No surprise there really, but the outside looks in good condition apart from the dirt, so a good clean is required.

Tell me about it, reset a trip switch 15x today before hard wiring an extension cable into a fuse box.
An hour later I'd grilled the extension cable, ho hum, not mine...

Last week it was a case of being in the right place as I saw the electric people had there truck out in the lane working on the poles so I asked what do they do with the old poles. There reply was we sell them do you want some. I bagged a couple last week and yesterday they were back and I aquiered another 10 making 12 in total and 4, 8to9 foot pieces where they had been cut down still perfect for gate posts. I am using 2 for mother raised area outside the green house. Luckily I had an old trailer chassis sat in the field they dripped them straight on. I don't think it was bad all for 60 squid. They look a lot longer laid down. Now I got a pole barn idea coming on later. I might have to do a posting about building it.
