But the bullet last week and upped my anvil game.
I'd been on the lookout for a rail track one for a while and the horse's head I'm making for Project Management's Christmas present warranted the expenditure. Well... it does in my mind anyway!
Do have an ancient old anvil given to me by an old neighbour when he moved; it had been outside for years and very rusted and pitted; a weeks soak in citric acid revealed the cracks too - has been useful as something to chain things to in the workshop when we go on holiday. Didn't have a flat surface on it anyway.

This one is 20" long and was £140 delivered so you could make some money...
How much?
I'll have to have a word with my brother to see how much more he's got hidden, as I think it's only a 3 or 4ft length

Yup... seems that finding railway line in manageable lengths in convenient places is rare as hen's teeth.
I could always sell the old anvil on eBay or Gumtree by including the terms 'artisan', 'shabby chic', 'preloved' and 'upcycled' and I'd probably get my money back...

Today I acquired some extra batteries for the vape 
They are out of the dud battery for the vans laptop but seems they are actually fine, probably the bleeding pcb in the battery programmed to say it is knackered and to replace
Anyway all charged up fine and one has lasted all day and is still going strong so I reckon the rest will be fine

I cant believe the prices Anvils are fetching...its ridiculous, theyre only a lump of steel........a drill or a saw etc does something

Well my new fine pole magnetic vice has arrived from Poland:
4" x 7" and seems to be exactly what is needed. I have given up on the Eclipse one I have as it needs too much force to move the handle from OFF to On. There is definitely something wrong with it and all of the manuals I have read strongly advise not taking it apart. This is just the ticket though, nice fine poles so will hold the small stuff I tend to do. Couple of sacrificial plates and I will be all set.

It doesn't de-magnetise them completely but it does reduce the effort. Always a debate going on because of stupid youtubers doing how-to's in stripping them down and then claiming they could 'detect no difference' - of course they couldn't without the test equipment required, but the Eclipse manual is quite clear - dismantling them even momentarily will reduce the magnetic effort.
