We have found that LED light sources used in modern projectors have a rapid burn in, yes you may have bought a 10,000 lumen (example off the top of my head) projector and you may have been very impressed when we installed it but a couple of months later it appears to be not so impressive. The older metal halide machines had a much slower reduction in light output which could be mitigated by fitting a new lamp though obviously this did nothing to compensate for yellowing of the heat filters or prisms in the optical path.

Got hold of a few nice bits today in a local secondhand/antique/bricabrac shop.
One 4 1/2 for me, a 4 for a friends christmas present and the surform was a bargain, I've a bouple of other blades for it rescued from the metal skip at work from someone having a clear out of the workshop. The one that was on it is unused on one side and barely used on the other.

They’re definitely a handy thing to have in the tool box. I don’t normally drill over 2MM thick steel with them and they do better in a pillar drill than a cordless but still ideal for the panel work I do.
That one was £18.75 on eBay.

It is indeed, use one occasionally at work but I think I'll probably use it more at home. Quite happy to have found one, and for £8 I think it was.

Yesterday i acquired a Clarke 1210 Vacumn former, it ceased to work after being "serviced" by the schools service provider's contractor. Turned out that a critical part had somehow become "forcibly bent". So we got the blame. Anyway we had to buy a new one at vast cost from the same contractor (funny that) & the old one was skipped. Of course the fact that it was heavy was no matter because when something is free one gains the strength of ten ordinary men & it fair leapt into the boot of my car.
Just put a plug on it & the heater & vac pump are fine, now just got to extract the bent platen, straighten it, fit new seal & bingo!

Today I acquired these 2 x boxes of fish, less than a day from landing off the boat. 'Local' fish merchant covers the whole extreme North of Scotland in his refrigerated van - he's out ever day to different places, often doing several hundred miles, I know because I know the distances to most places up here. [ yes...I know he covers more than that e.g. on the day he comes to us. If he only came to Bonar, he'd do more than 100 to get here and home again. Naturally he visits lots more places when he's down this way]. His fish is so good that the local Spar shop buys from him, but as he gets to know locals who always buy from him he comes to your door, sounds his van horn and waits until they've all had a chance to buy direct from him. At least 4 immediate neighbours buy every week so it's worth his while [ I don't buy every week but I buy and freeze some. Failing that, e.g if I happen to be at Docs or hospital for regular clinics, I give my immediate neighbours cash enough to cover my needs and they will get for me so that I can collect it from them when I get home.

If for whatever reason they don't have what you want on the van [some is seasonal, some they judge whether they can buy it at the fish market at a price where they're sure allow for their profit but they can be reasonably sure their customers will buy it from them. Sound business acumen, that. If they can't they tell us that it was too expensive at market. Actually some of us can guess by watching weather and even shipping forecasts for the local area - @Hood will know that the boats, sensibly, won't put to sea if they know it's going to be too rough for their boats to contend with ]

It's a OnePlus1 which at the time you could only buy if you had an intro code, and you could only get one from an existing customer who'd bee in the queue ahead of you [more clever marketing plus it raised capital to develop/make more without resorting to massive debt burdens. . Iirc, I paid about £250ish which was then approx 50% of the Apple offering .
Afaik, they know they're now on version 7, 8 or even higher and now you can just buy direct
] It's still smarter than me as I've never bother to add apps but I had to investigate to see if it really was broken - I resorted to the age-old first step with all things electrical [even cars now], switch it off, leave it for a while and turn it back on again . I obviously managed to ensure it wasn't dead by resorting to that simple
expedient. Further searching & I found the cause as you can tell......

best i made was only a few weeks ago i had a root around the frezzer for all the fish been in there for a while and made a fish pie tasted top great

Aye, and many others foreby. Peppered mackerel, fish roe [known up here also as 'rannies' for some reason] are just another couple of examples.

Anything to do with seafood and the top of Scotland works for me
.Can't wait to get up to Kinlochbervie next year for some of the most sublime diving in the UK, stunning scenery, solitude, and the chance to bag a scallop or two. Also looking forward to Monday as I have a 20 metre phone mast to install near Leith docks in Edinburgh. Aside from the inevitable chaos that a 25 metre long wagon and a road closure will cause, the site isn't a million miles away from Clark's fishmonger at Musselborough.
I predict seafood will be on the menu in the Empty Arms Hotel next week
.Just back from a shopping expedition to the great metropolis of Bishop Auckland with all that's needed to build a log store, after I relieve the greenhouse of its 8'x2' heavy duty pallet that will form the base.
And more importantly, some anchors to improve matrimonial harmony.
Apparently the aluminium canoe made a bid for freedom during the high winds on Thursday night, and made a hellish row on its journey around the front yard. According to a seriously terse text I got from OH, (ironically while I was sat on the M6 at Carlisle due to a wagon that had blown over...), if I don't fasten it down, she'll "... cut the ******* thing up with YOUR angle grinder, and after that I'll cut your b*****s off!!!"
Methinks a few minutes of my time drilling holes is time well spent. Think it was @spencer 427 that said "Happy wife, happy life" .
