Today I acquired...........

Went out on a mission to round up some pallets to build a 3 m x 2.4 m shed, found a giant packing crate about 3 m cube , from a China import machinery company, 6 mm ply, and huge beams about 200 mm square inside, they practically begged me to take it away

Its basically a shed in one hit.

I've got all the heavy timbers back to base and am going back later for the ply. Probably enough left over for a big log store as well.

Sad news is I've got to buy a bag of nails to build it.

..a large engine. 5.7 litres of Chevy actually. Ally heads, stainless headers, HEI dizzy, stripped for inspection.

I have no idea what I’m gonna do with it, but reassembly will be the obvious move. A supercharged trike appeals, but I have to finish my hot rod first. Don’t I?

I had a closer look in the bright lights of my garage, and there is water damage in several of the cylinders. Not 100% sure it needs a rebore, but it definitely needs stripping and checking properly. Maybe the marks will polish out, but a couple can definitely be felt with a fingernail......

I drained the sump, only oil came out, no water.

Any recommended reborers in the West Midlands? Might be time to fit some ‘livelier’ pistons.

@captain-destructo No. But I was told to wait until Christmas. The empty cans we had run with a tube, lighter fluid, spark plug and fun ensued.

For years, I've been using a DeWalt 320K jigsaw, but I bought it at a time when I was doing a lot of site work and so had the 110V version.
It's a nice tool to use and I've often wished I'd bought the mains version instead, but needs must at the time.
One thing I really like about it is the lack of quick-change nonsense that eventually breaks, as I found with other makes and models, even the DeWalt ones with quick-change are often to be seen with broken fiddly bits.
For home use it's a bit of a pain in the bahookie lumping the transformer around, so I had a look for the 240V version on the bay of blaggers, and this turned up today.
Barely used, light occasional workshop duties, and the case is like brand new.

Not a chance.
Collated nails are bad enough to bang in with a hammer when they haven't been fired from a gun.

Nails are cheap. Stop being tight.

Pair of rear air suspension units



Replacement valve blocks and overhaul kits



And a full engine and autobox service plus transfer box oil change



Hopefully by the end it won't look like this and all the suspension errors will be gone

Today I got 5 of these 5' led lights.


2 of these flood lights.


And 30 of these 2' square lights.


The whole lot is brand new in the box and all for free for helping a guy out of trouble with a van . The only downside is I need to get drivers for the square lights, he only had 1 driver so I need 29 more of these.

I'll be putting up a thread in the electrical section looking for some advice on wiring this little lot up.
