Got an old Record 18" a few days ago, soaked it in oil, it was totally seized. Now manually cleaning it, I can't get it apart yet.

I may try acid as I see people on here do. At work we have sodium bisulphate

( a weak powdered acid) and hydrochloric acid (probably far too strong but watered down?)

'probably carry on manually cleaning it..

It's citric acid you want, get it online as a powder (More like granulated sugar actually). HCL will cost more damage the non-rusted steel.

A heavy haul today, a good friend was having a major sort out and dumped this lot on me

Cebora 330 mig, apperntly good working order



A pallet load of bits including a rotary table , another with a three jaw bolted to it, two six inch machine vices, a mother of a tilting vice, a couple of smaller chucks, a curt tap holder and a two big boxes of drills, collets and cutters.

Is it just the adjuster which is locked solid? I'd clamp that knurled adjuster in the vice, lather with light oil and then work the body back & forth to free it.

I spy some horizontal milling cutters in that it that lot, I know someone who would save you storing those if you're not going to use them yourself?

Be patient young man, I have no need for most of the boxed contents so will bung them up on the freebees section when I have time to sort through them . You can have first shout on the cutters.

Yup. Have a few purdys from when I was making and painting kitchens. Worth the pennies.

tool co, Sheffield 'die' which I thought was a quality holder for my taps (never had my specs on) it is 3/16th.

Funnily enough I bought a similar die holder thinking it was a tap holder too.

Neighbour was throwing his heavy duty axle stands so now they are mine. 20+ inches tall before extending. He used them under a coach. Of course he knows where they are if he ever needs them and I have to store them now so win win.
