Aye, that's why I wondered if it was to give an indication of the balance/sweet spot? But you'd think someone wielding one would be able to 'feel' it?

a 1 1/2 socket head firmer chisel.

it's a bit battered...



it's stamped "R. Fairclough + co" (I think), and "liverpool"
apparently (according to a *very* quick browse) that dates it to the 1850s -1880s

it will live again!

I knew this small claw hammer was old.

The clean up showed, al be it faint a manufacture stamp of John Palmer and son.

That's a finnish billnäs axe, they looked like that more or less from the time period 1900-1970.

Last night i was passing a skip and found about 30 blue bull nose bricks to make my step into the garage, within an hour they were cleaned and fitted, Also spotted some 10mm thick polycarbonate sheet to make feet for the door casing.

Got these yesterday:



£1.79 for a pack of 10 assorted brushes, from Quality Save. Was expecting them to be crap, but they're actually one of the best brushes I've used for a good while. Didn't bother teasing the bristles before use to work any loose bristles free, yet only one bristle came loose whilst using Lidl metal paint from a tin, and that's quite claggy paint. For such cheap brushes, I was pleasantly surprised.

The side axe arrived today, and was well packaged for sure. As this type no longer appears in the Ochsenkopf catalogue, I thought I'd take a punt and buy this used one which appeared to be in very good overall condition. I paid a little more than I wanted to, but feel I got my moneys worth. The vintage side axe's seem to go for collector prices, kind of like Swindon's vices, also, I doubt there is enough demand for manufacturers to provide new ones.

Many years ago when I sold tools for a living I bought a few of these new for about £25 each sold the lot never had any complaints!

Not today but recently acquired this parts washer, decent size leak and mess free table top cabinet with fan and light. Draws the degreaser up from the reservoir a bit like a sand blaster, a valve to adjust the fluid, fine mesh washable strainer for the returning fluid, decent light inside and an extractor fan .
You can swap the degreaser in the resevoir for water for the final blast off.

Its a gem

Looks brand new. Does it have some sort of an internal windshield wiper, or something to squeegee the glass, so you can see what your doing when greasy solvent splashes over it obscuring your view ?

These were left in the garage at my mates new house, He is not into DIY so he sent told me to take them...Purdy are the best brushes i have ever used some of mine are 20 years old now.
