I am so jealous! I built myself a gas fired kiln, which works fine, but I have to sit with it for hours getting bored witless with a burner roaring in my ears! That one looks programmable to bring it up to temperature and hold it then turn it off, while you go and do something more interesting instead!

I know a potter with a kiln which has (iirc) 6 [yes, 6!! ] burners - it's so big you could literally get inside it. It was awesome seeing/hearing it at full chat!

Wouldn't want to pay for a firing though.......

Another VGC "vintage" Record vice to add to my collection, and it only cost me £13.50 + £8.50 P&P for a total of £22.00 all in.

Although it's been repainted there's not a single drilling mark or speck of corrosion on it, and it's of much better quality and in better condition than most contemporary new vices on offer these days!

This time a Record model 453 drill press vice which will be used for general drilling duties on my workshop's bench drill.

The new blue paint is over a grey primer. On the base you can still see the original machining marks from it being skimmed flat.

That's is at a friends house, as I have no space left.

To be honest I have not even plugged it in.

Sunday was so busy finding home and space.

I have a few ideas to date.

Local community craft group, but with the caveat that the Girl Guide etc. can have access to it.

Use it at village fates, craft show to raise funds for Men In sheds.



But, to be honest I have so much on my plate. it will be a few turns of the clock before I really know what to do with it.
It was something I was not expecting, but I was not going to turn it down.

Mine will take about a dozen items at a time, which is enough for me, but it is incredibly light on gas. I've used the same 13kg bottle half a dozen times and it's still well over half full. That includes several six hour bisque firings too!

No time to unpack it yet as I've been caulking the skirting boards using one of these....
It's really good! I'm mean REALLY GOOD! Makes a poxy messy job turn out very neatly.
So I'm celebrating with a glass of this.....

Really like using those for silicone.
Still prefer a bucket of hot water and a sponge for caulking.

Enjoy the saw. Always nice using brand new tools

There handy and work well. Always have a couple in my pocket at work.
Water and washing up liquid in a squirty bottle makes silicone application easy too.

I just use a finger. A different finger for differing profiles, of course.

I never understand why people use a finger or a silicone profile to wipe caulk, what's wrong with cutting the nozzle to the required profile and laying a tidy bead straight out of the gun?

You need near perfect surfaces/conditions for that to work.
