Great advice.Thank you. You might have saved me some money and grief there. I did a bit of reading up on vfds last night. As a short term economy measure I will fit a vfd directly to the motor as its is. I believe it will run with some reduced fuctionality. I'd add a link but im typing this from a phone. I think I can get the same torque but at a reduced running speed. That will allow me to get the mill running and allow me to have a play.Will get the motor looked at at a later date. Theres a good thread on here about pulling out the star points on a motor but I'll leave that to someone who knows what they're doing.

For simplicity a rotary converter will run everything as is via the main supply to the machine.
Yes it's a step up single 240 feeds a bank of three transformers in parallel out into the motor and 3bbig unknown size caps for starting running like that phatom phase is at 385 ISH put a. 100 if cap from L1 to L3 and it stabizes around 417 just had it running my Tec arc inverter set on stick welded sweet

Not so much acquired as it cost me a wedge but I now own a garage, it's about 5mins from home, large double with some land as well.
No power so gonna use solar leasure batteries and LED lights plus I have a generator lined up for things that draw loads of current
Will post some photos next few days, 1st job is to clear all of the brambles, they are over 8' high and buried underneath is an old Renault Clio

What gpu did you go for? Now I'm up and running again I spent an hour or two playing counter strike. Turns out 5 years not gaming takes its toll, poor show all round.

Picked up a cheap gt1030 (gddr5)need to update the psu to a decent modular with a better output.
Got a large back catalogue to play so not fussed about the latest and greatest.
Struggling to learn a new racing sim atm. Allessio corsa.
You can get 230v in, 400v out VFDs. I have one on my Chipmaster and RF30 drill mill. The drill mill one I put on a year ago or so, and is finest Chinese from Aliexpress. I will see if I can find the details if you want.

Tried to wire a new Fish tank heater in today.
Did not succeed.
Tripped a breaker, they called me.
Got 10 cans of beer as well.
Fixed the fault, wired the heater and did not laugh until her and I was making a coffee.
I met him again.

Agreed, I use a 240 in, 415 out 3HP Teco to run my lathe and mill. Expensive but so is fannying about with motor swaps.

A new sim
Picked it up a few days ago but haven't really had a chance to do more than dial in the wheel and sus the settings out.
Grabbed a few hours today and starting to hook it up.
Been a good few years since I did anything other than mess about with the kids on it.
Give me a few weeks and I shouldn't be too bad
Spur me on to designing a pedal box shifter and handbrake over the year ahead.
Maybe save a direct drive wheel for 2021.

We went to Battlesbridge antique emporium today, it's a load of individual shops selling lots of different stuff. I obviously went straight for the tools and found a pair of Knipex rachet cutters, seized and a bit rusty but worth a punt at £2!

Indirectly, a punctured tyre. It's on my wife's car, well it's off now, ans was caused by a fragment of mussel shell. I've now to ask a favour of the local garage to try and get it repaired. I can do it myself but I use their kit and they're closed until the new year.

I suppose that getting stuff that other people take for granted as easily accessible can require quite a lot of forward-planning up where you live?
You can screw in a wood screw to seal a leak I’ve done it before. The last time I had a flat was on my ford f100 I lowered and dragged out the spare but no way in h*ll would it let me get the rim to release, I had to pump up the tire till the low tire light went out before getting home. The next day I took it in and they beat on the rubber part of the tire before it released.
