They didn't say it was to do with conformity [or otherwise] with the fire retardant foam, did they? That's the usual reason for declining stuff like that these days.

A Mill.
Many thanks to Fizzy for selling it and getting it transported to my door. The logistics were always a bigger barrier to me getting one of these than paying for it ever was.
Bolted down on four places to a hefty pallet and strapped down too. The head was wrapped in industrial cling film as well. Delivery driver was very kind. It was his last load of the day and it took a few goes to get it into the garage, there's a bit of lip to the concrete slab at the entrance. It was also tight with clearance the under roller shutter but we found a bit of "give" when we shoved hard enough. This was despite tilting the head.
The Marlow is supposed to weigh 400-450 kilos but so does that green TOS drill next to it. The picture is deceptive making the mill look much larger but I still think the Marlow weighs more.
I don't think I can run the motor off a VFD. The photo isn't very good but it states 400v. It doesn't seem to be dual voltage so I think I will have to swap that out. I think I would like to get a dual voltage 3phase motor and play around with a VFD rather that get a single phase motor. I wont have to upset the rest of the control wiring that way.
Can anyone confirm whether the motor is no use to me?

Today I acquired a late birthday present ( 21 Dec ) in the post.
ISBN : 978-1-68045-355-3 A beginners & competetnant persons 280 or so page hand book to develop their skills with Fusion 360 for Makers ( 3D printing & CNC fabrication.)
I was mesmerised , being a good boy I did as advised & read every page including the all very important preface pages . Come page 35 I stopped for some lunch , a quick bowl of homemade veg & smoked bacon soup, then straight back to where I left off .
I read page 36 and felt myself starting to get annoyed for some reason , it took me a full four seconds to realise what was wrong ….I couldn't turn the page .
Daft sod that I am , I'd had a short circuit in the brain box ..................…. it's a paper book I'm reading not my Kindle , the pages need turning by hand not stabbing at the edge with a finger . ( it's not the first time I've done it when reading paper either) .

i've been known to try to unlock the house door with the van blipper.
my van doesn't have a blipper...
Today I acquired a 15hp rotary phase converter, for £100 someone had purchased it with a fault and played with it and got stuck and left it , I've had a quick play and stripped alot of the doggy wiring away that had been lodged around the relay etc stripped it back to the contactor and 3 transformers and manualy adding the start cap suprisngly it runs silky sweet needs some run caps as the voltages are a bit out but I'm happy weights a stupid amount ,
So pleased it got their intact. Always a worry but it wasn't very likely to tip on a nice big wide pallet like that.
I nicked the bolts out of some of my stairs so better get some replacements!
I think maybe heavier as well - perhaps 550 to 600kg. A lot more solid than a typical home mill.

for future reference, fire labels are 10 for a quid on the bay.
And get a friend to buy them for you so there's no evidence trail.

Is that also a step up-converter?
I have to build one and since I'm planning to get a 9kW power generator next year I can use also a bigger motor than the 3Hp I was planning to use
I'm not sure I should buy it but I've also found a 20kW PFC and phase stabilizer (automatically operated) for cheap and should be both able to balance the output and be cheaper/faster than going to play with capacitor bank etc

a blasting cabinet for Sfa a home made a friend made a few years ago all oxy acetylene welded ,must have took ages , it has a dust extractor built on the side , spare tear offs to protect the glass ,nozzles and a couple of buckets of grit ,bigger compressor next i suppose ? 16cfm might struggle

You will have to modify the control wiring. VFDs do not like having their output disconnected when live. You will let the magic smoke out. However, it's well worth having the VFD.

VFD isn't a good way to give power to different loads (example you are already using the drill mill and you start on a bench grinder)it will take off the power .
As same as these a VFD can't give power to a welder of any sort
