In the late 80's I mostly had fairly sensible exhausts on the bikes but the Escort 1600 Sport had a single box Pico which came from Burton that was my loud phase.

We had a Pico exhaust on a Downton Engineering tuned MG Midget 1275. Sounded lovely and fruity, not too loud. Only problem was the passenger footwell got very hot after a few miles which woke up the dog
So the passenger would end up with a 5 stone English bull terrier with halitosis on their knee.

That's good to know. Life span of the belts was the one thing I was a bit worried about.

Yup, pretty sure they are sherry casks going by the distillery they were going to be used at and the smell. They haven't been used for whiskey yet so they have not been burned which makes using them easier. Nice thick oak it is.
They are the barrels that come in but have failed (collapsed or similar) in some way, so at this stage they just get binned.

I’m sure there will be some from Portugal, I know Macallan source their sherry casks from Jerez. If you do the tour at Macallan you can see a cross section of a stave where the inside of it is pink for about 2 mm, so it obviously does retain some of that sherry. They mentioned that a typical cask will be re-used 3 times in its life so its entirely possible they could outlive us if being used to store some 30 year olds. I hear it makes some lovey smelling fire wood.

Whisky is a kind of anaesthetic. You could pour some in the glass, some in your eye

I have the same one, picked it out at a scrap yard. The leather washers at the end had perished so I made up some copper washers from some lighting conductor bar that I had. Will post up a picture. The metal is very good and maintains a nice sharp edge which is easy to maintain

Today i acquired an RJH Bison 10" pedestal grinder, it was disconnected at school 3 years ago & written off. After 3 years it was finally declared scrapped by the service provider. This week the premises man declared it far too heavy for them to lift into the skip safely so i offered to strip it & scrap it myself. "Saves us a job, do what you want with it" he sez, And so in a blur of Bicycle repairman style action spanners it was rapidly dissasembled & loaded into my car. The pedestal casing was very heavy but the thought of such a fine machine being skipped lent me the strength of ten ordinary men & it fair leapt into the boot! Happy days! Now to see if there is any place i can stand the thing in my workshop.

What a ridiculous question
Whisky preference is such a personal thing I'd hesitate to recommend it - it's a bit peaty [which I like], but not as 'strong' in the peat/smoke department as some I prefer. I'm not a big drinker but I do like a nice single malt when I'm having a dram.
