Retrieved it, found in one of the boys (men) rooms, it had a brass plaque on it, which he took off and lost!, so after testing it on him, found it still works fine and produces yelps with low effort.

Will make a replacement plaque, and it's a bit short for me as a walking stick, not that I need one yet, but have some bronze and brass so may make a doodah to raise the walking end.

Googled Iron Wood, Olea capensis apparently, lovey grain and no splits, it may not look much but it is seriously weighty and likely fearsome in Zulu hands - less so in mine

Fearsome in the hands of anyone who's made even a rudimentary study of martial arts edged weapon use. It works exactly the same way and I would take a walking stick against a knife any day, let alone one made of lignum, that's a serious bone breaker!

A Moore and Wright 50-75mm micrometer that after ebay's simple delivery snafu, cost me precisely nothing.

It was supposed to be delivered between Christmas and new year to the post office, but Evri's tracking said it was going to be delivered on Christmas eve and the updates have ceased since. I messaged ebay this morning to ask what was occurring and if they could get an update out of evri and they immediately refunded the lot. I managed to get to the post office before closing tonight so asked if they'd seen it and he produced it as if nothing was wrong... so now I have the refund and the item. I only hope it didn't impact the seller (I imagine they get paid either way), but if ebay's policy is just to write deliveries off when Evri drop the ball, it's no wonder they can't do free listing weekends anymore!

Lignum Vitae is the name of the wood I couldn't recall.

My bro ended his time in the police force looking after the local police museum he said that most wooden truncheons he had in the collection were Malaysian oak .

Also used to make bearings because of its hardness and the oils it contains makes it self lubricating.

I've never seen Lidl or Aldi do the powerfile knock offs unfortunately. I'd definitely get one or even two if they were under £20. We wore out the rubber cylinder on the end of the arm on ours; replaced it because it was only a fiver a couple of years ago but it's around a tenner now. I snapped up a nearly new powerfile on ebay a couple of years ago just to alternate with the old one and so I was never without one.

Had a quick look and Toolstation have the B and D one for £50, with the other brands not much cheaper. The cheap Silverline ones seem to be unavailable now.

I have an Aldi powerfile and I prefer it to my B&D one.
Head has a much stronger construction and it has a proper bearing as a nose wheel instead of the rubber roller.
It comes with 3 different heads.

In the post today I aquired a set of MT centers for my wood lathe , The original chuck & tailstock tapers were very firmly stuck in the head stock and tail stock so I guessed at the size from the metal I could see. ( freed off after two weeks of hot air gun and WD 40 , plus a long mild steel bar & lump hammer soundly tapping away at them )

OAF hook it , they are the wrong size , I should have ordered MT1 ..checked I did indeed order & get MT2 ..

Anybody want to swap an unused MT2 boxed set for an MT1 set

Its a fake, the paint isnt flaking off!

I'd imagine the seller to be loosing out there, its just how ebay is currently set up. They could then claim from Evri, but then Evri will say it has been collected, and wont pay out. Ebay wont be loosing on it.
I would get in contect with the seller..

I’ve had a Blue Point one of these ratchets for around 25years, one of the most useful tools I’ve got, they’re very handy.

That's interesting. It's the rubber roller that gets worn - you can't help but angle the tool sometimes and eventually as the roller wears the belts start jumping off. I've never seen them but I wish Aldi would do them again; such a useful tool.

I’ve got a Lidl one, similar or the same as Aldi & badged differently. Good tool, I use it quite a bit, with welding like mine……

Had a couple of these arrive from eBay today. My mission whilst it’s so cold is to bring the boxes of drill bits I’ve acquired over the years and sort them into letter,imperial and metric. Really nicely built for a fairly cheap China thing, just a shame they didn’t make the divisions bigger in the lower drawers for the bigger drills.
