I'm intending to pick one of those up, I was hoping I might find one in Aldi or Lidl for a bit less money but it looks as if I'll just have to stump up the £50 in B&Q. Obviously that means Lidl will have them a few days later for £15. Presumably the £15 Lidl thing you're talking about is the die grinder - I picked one of those up as well, it's nicer than my Katsu one but mainly because you can run it at different speeds. Power switch is a rocker one, so probably a bit more difficult to find when it needs to be killed off. I must look for a 240V dead mans switch, that's a good suggestion earlier up the thread.

One particular stretch that needs to be ground back lends itself well to the die grinder, though - it's a weld along the inside of a curve just above the swage line on both rear quarters, which are about 5' long each side. Though I imagine the Powerfile held at ninety degrees to the panel would probably do it. This is why I have a load of things for grinding - sometimes the usual one won't get into where the grinds are required, or sometimes it's uncomfortable to hold it that way.

If you can stretch to it look at the Milwaukee band file, it's way superior to the B&D offering. I went through two B&D ones over the last 30 years, then I fancied a Milwaukee so it was more mobile and it's fantastic, being able to rotate the arm to whatever angle you need is absolutely brilliant.

I'm actually more interested in all the other bits you can get as opposed to just burrs. I tried some tiny flap wheels and wire brushes for awkward places, seems a decent tool.

It's the Silverline ones I've seen on FB Marketplace, but they're usually almost the same price as the B&D one from B&Q or wherever, so might as well stick with that.

Think I paid about £15 for the Silverline one I have along with a few spare belts, must have had it for 12 years at least. Considering I only got it for one job I’m well pleased

Those roloc type pads & backing disc you can get are handy. They're better used in a right angled one though, for general tasks. I use those with the 12V unit.

i have been looking at those, but a bit pricey if you go for the 3M ones, i think at this point apart from needing a new bottle of gas im about all spent out for a while, need to start making at least something to justify all this gear as it took my daughter all of about 2 months to get a bored.

I just get generic/unbranded pads. They've served me fine, so far. Not something I use often, but they're bloody handy to have when you need them.

The wood alone is handy. Can't recall its name, offhand, but the same wood, apparently, which they used on some old machinery for the handwheel handles & such.

I have a knobkerrie (don't laugh) It's a South African Zulu fighting stick about a meter long, given to me by a SA security company as a gift.
It's made from what they call Iron Wood, it really does feel like the weight of an iron bar

I've done the timing belt on my neighbors Punto.
Since it's the same engine I went to check on my engine bay for the timing reference point.
And discovered the intake manifold has been somehow cracked right before the injector

So I've bought a new used one
While waiting for it I'm concerned about the catching on fire while driving it so...
I may have bought 2 fire extinguishers and already installed them

I've installed the 2Kg one in the trunk

And the little 1kg one below the passenger seat

My mind kinda went off-road for a moment when I've thought about plumbing the 2Kg one straight to the engine bay but I've the realize it has a plastic valve and it would be a great idea.
Also because it may be activated by error making a complete mess.

I owned a B&D powerfile for over 20 years before I thought to use it doing some wood butchery for my neighbour's art installation. What an amazing tool. I still have it 35 years after getting it as part of a workshop clearance, it wasn't new then.

Astonishingly good bits of kit !

If they are powder extinguishers, they are effective but the car is basically scrap after you use one anyway due to the mess.
Not something you want to use unless it is a last resort!

In case of fire in the engine bay there's not much to do if you don't have an extinguisher especially because It's a compact package
Presurize fuel line runs right under the windshield, does a turn and goes straight to the rail the rail is on the manifold
Then being a Fiat there's oil all over the engine.
If it's catch on fire you won't stop it burning without an extinguisher

Retrieved it, found in one of the boys (men) rooms, it had a brass plaque on it, which he took off and lost!, so after testing it on him, found it still works fine and produces yelps with low effort.

Will make a replacement plaque, and it's a bit short for me as a walking stick, not that I need one yet, but have some bronze and brass so may make a doodah to raise the walking end.

Googled Iron Wood, Olea capensis apparently, lovey grain and no splits, it may not look much but it is seriously weighty and likely fearsome in Zulu hands - less so in mine
