They became obsolete/redundant due to sparking when stabbed on the battery terminals . HASAW people did not like that one iota especially if petrol fumes were present .Now that's a proper battery discharge meter.......
I've been trying to find a good one for years, even considered buying a new one at one point.....one of those and a Hydrometer is all you need to test lead-acid vehicle batteries.

They did a 500 amp one, I was talking to an Exide Traction Battery guy years ago, and he stated they did build some 1000 amp cca ones, but I've never seen one or found any references to one.

Fizzy would have loved to have one a few months ago when we were trying to fault find his massive electric fork lift battery ..
All cells showed full charge and the correct SG. happen it being around 20 yrs old and partially silted is the reason it only runs a few hours on each charge .
Or two anvils ?

Typical H&S, my mate who was an electrician was fitting new lighting to overhead walkways at Shell Haven, Essex, many years ago.
He wasn't allowed to use his electric drill, only an air powered one, but the on-site maintenance guy, with a bit of paper was welding the fixing/support brackets on.......
.I still like the old style drop tester, they'll never better it, imo.

Drop testing a forklift battery could be interesting (generally you'd use a 3 volt drop tester only, if they made one for single cell).
Drop testing a submarine battery are you mad, I'd hate to think of the end result if it goes up.....

I have an old Draper box of tricks battery tester with adjustable load , amps and seperated voltage gauges that worked well. The cable insulation on the leads is perished and I was going to dispose of it as I haven’t used it for some time. On subs, each cell is checked for fluid level. Then topped up. Only in dock are load test carried out.
New boats have load resisters built into system.
When a boat battery goes pop. It upsets the crew.
